What's the Deal with Evolution?

If I'm a carnivorous ape, why would I not act like one?
Because some fool discovered agriculture, then pastoralism, and it was off to the races.
Accumulated wealth, warfare, states and civilization. Now our numbers are so high we're no longer able to live as the natural, hunter-gatherer, savanna apes we are. We've had to severely modify our natural ape behavior to live as we do.

No, that’s not what the Scripture is saying!

Here, look at Hebrews 11:1 from BibleHub:
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see..
Do you see all those translations calling faith a “conviction”, and “proof”? That doesn’t come from a ‘feeling’. Neither does “evidence.”
But this is no definition. It's not how the word is used. The passage from Hebrews is poetic gobbledygook.

See Romans 1:20....views denying these things, are just “inexcusable.”
Reasonable? -- yes. Logical? -- yes. Excusable? -- No! Politically dangerous dissent.

Question: Today we know gravity keeps the Earth in a steady orbit of the Sun as Newton discovered, but how do you think it got into that precise orbit?
Physics. Just like the physics that keeps us in orbit and made the Earth spherical.

That’s evidence. For us.
Science works from hard, empirical evidence: observable, testable, repeatable &/or predictive. That's science's bailiwick. Religion's realm is meaning, value and purpose. When it treads into science's territory it usually falls on its face, yet it keeps doing just that.
Science knows to stay on it's side of the street.

(Have you ever seen videos describing the materialistic explanation of how the Earth formed? It’s completely laughable!)
Materialistic? Do you mean "natural?" ie: according to physics?

I'm not clear on what laughable videos you're referring to. Could you post some links?
I assume Earth formed from the accretion of dust and débris, by universal gravitation. Are you talking about some other explanation?
What evidence, do you think, existed in Paul’s day when he wrote Romans?
You mean scientific evidence?: physics, chemistry, geology? Very little; that's why they relied on folklore, old wives' stories and poetic speculation.

For many years I have asked for a creationist to point me in the direction of The Theory of Creation, never yet got a satisfactory response, anyone want to help me now?

ratiocinator

Lightly seared on the reality grill.
Why? If I'm an animal why should I pretend otherwise?

You shouldn't - so stop it. However, suggesting that you should behave like a different animal is just silly.

Seriously, is your belief your god, special creation, and that you aren't an animal, the only thing that keeps you from behaving differently? Is it the only thing that makes you civilised? Because, if so, that says a lot about your character and motivation, and it isn't pretty, in fact, it's terrifying.

Oh I can live as a Hunter gatherer. PEOPLE did that too you know, and still do. But if I'm an ape why should I care about the rest of the tribe anyway? If I'm the biggest and meanest I get to be boss. That might mean I have to kill a few other apes to get the point across, but hey I'm just an animal right? The columbine shooters understood that philosophy of evolution... and so did Darwin. He was ok with killing aboriginals because they were supposed to be less evolved.

I've never been all that civilized so the belief that I'm a human made in God's image is certainly what keeps me civilized. I would probably be living alone on some mountain as a hermit otherwise in all seriousness. But I realized God knows I need people to balance myself.

You consider altruism and moral behavior non-ape?
If I'm the biggest and meanest I get to be boss. That might mean I have to kill a few other apes to get the point across, but hey I'm just an animal right?
That sounds typically human. Few animals behave this way.

Evolution is not a philosophy. It's just change.

Why would "being less evolved" involve less claim to moral consideration? Isn't that sort of human, tribal morality accountable for our history of endless conflict and exploitation?

This isn't "philosophy of evolution." This is typical, human behavior.

Do you want to know the true secret answer to your question?

You are acting like one, but not every species of apes act alike because of evolution.

And that's the answer to your failed gotcha question. But you're welcome to go back to your cave and try to come up with a new gotcha question. Please try to make it harder, we are after all, an evolved species capable of higher thinking. Keep this in mind, eventhough two individuals are part of the same species, not everyone act and think the same. Some are just slower than others. So a question that might be really hard for you, could be really easy for someone else.:D:D:D
