Okay, so I've got to ask... Have you been to Bryce and Zion? I find Grand Canyon to be impressive, but mostly because of its size. In terms of sheer beauty, though, it can't hold a candle to either Bryce or Zion (just across the state line into Utah).
Well, spluh! Of course you're going to find things in Utah to be the best!
But yes, I've hiked them both.
I found'm spectacular too, but on a smaller scale.
The way to see the Grand Canyon is to hike down into it....& then back out.

When I was little, we used to go to Monterey and the 17-mile-drive. I didn't really appreciate it until I got older. :)

Pulling into Sydney, Australia by ship was amazing and unforgettable....different beach locations around So Cal and many different Ohio forests/woods during spring and fall mornings also. Your nose and lungs remember as much as your eyes do.

I don't know about beautiful, but the Great Australian Bight was pretty darn awesome when I was there. Pics don't do it justice.

Outside the cities, within the wilderness of Afghanistan or Alaska. They are the two most visually aesthetic places I've been to.

I don't know if it's the most beautiful place I know, but it's certainly the most tranquil. Whenever I visit some relatives who live in a group of small log cottages in the middle of the forest next to this beautiful lake I feel happy, and I mean genuinely happy just to be alive. The people there add to the atmosphere, of course.

It's been a lousy weather this year, but this is a photo I took of my midsummer bonfire with some of the lake showing in the background. I wanted to make it larger, but the weather was too much for the rest of the people so I had to cut my pyromania short (no fun to party all by yourself).

Unforunately, I haven't travelled nearly as much as I should have, but I've always loved the caves of the South, especially Cathedral Caverns in N.Alabama.

After like 3 miles of handicap and public access, no one really knows how deep the cave system goes. But I hope to go cave camping at some point in my life.

Is that picture real?
It matches what I saw there.
Pretty impressive, eh?
That thing is huge.
To walk down in, around & out of it is like nothing else I've done.
If I lived in the area, I'd be do'n a lot more hiking.
