I've long been of the opinion that, when it comes to voting, only what the people choose should count. IOW, why should land get a vote? [rhetorical]

Whats the point of voting?

In the U.S. republic, each State gets one vote as a distinct sovereign entity. The States, along with the People each sovereign in themselves, together created the federal government.
That's another reason that the U.S. Congress is bicameral - the senators (were) supposed to represent their States, the representatives (were) supposed to represent their People.

Yes, I'm aware of the U.S. political structure-- I taught political science here for 25 years.
However, in my case, I prefer the parliamentary system.

I understand the objection, but I disagree. The main benefit is that it prevents fringe groups from obtaining disproportionate representation. (Or at the very least, makes it much harder)

Just a heads-up to be careful what kind of words you use here because some have been "uninvited" over the years. I just read a post on another thread by you that wouldn't surprise me if it led to a reprimand.

Is there some kind of list? I've only made a few posts here, so it isn't difficult to figure out which one. I would hope people aren't that thin-skinned, but if that's a no-no, so be it. I'm new and don't know all the rules.

The point of voting is to try to stop stuff and people you don't like from becoming law. I mean isn't there a point to voting against Trump, or against tax increases or pro-crime measures.

A small amount of research can help you uncover what is true. The internet and freedom of information makes it so. You no longer are tied only to what you are force fed by the bought and paid for mass media outlets. Think for yourself and then vote.

Well, don't let your opinion be swayed by the media or the media only. You have access to the internet and access to more information than any other people in human history. Look up official documentation, political manifestos, rules and regulations which affect the UK with regards to the EU and then make up your own mind. This requires more work than tuning into Sky News but you can't just sit back and say "Oh I only know what the media tells me". That's not true.
