Whats the verdict on suicide?

I really have to disagree with you here, I can understand where Dream Angel is at in her life, and councelling is not the answer, friendship and someone to be there for you is. Councelling in the UK = Mental Health record, now that wouldn't go down well with future employers. Edit: and please take this from someone who works in the industry of healthcare/pharmaceuticals.

Yeah I am in the healthcare industry and I know how it works - i really dont want a mental health record...I am considering nursing or medicine, although i think the latter will be too much strain for me...I think I put myself under too much pressure. Anyway, either will not look favourably on me if I have a mental health record...

It wouldn't believe me, I love the industry I am in, so I didn't dare speak to a councellor through everything I put myself through. I have saw many people being cast out of the industry for showing this weakness. What I will say to you is - perhaps you could give what I did a go and sail along for a while to balance your mind and then concentrate on your aspirations, it made me stronger.

Talking with someone is always desirable when getting low and there are many more than you know, Dream Angel, here in RF that appreciate you and offer our support and love.

There are other avenues, too, if ever needed. As it turns out the very first suicide hotline was established in the UK and is still available - Samaritans Home Page-->, phone
UK: 08457 90 90 90. One can talk 24 hours a day, reverse charges or have them call back, and talk confidentially. Wouldn't be
as much fun as us however.

I appreciate your effort to cheer my up Heneni, I really do...but I feel so low and worthless at the moment, I can never go more than a couple of weeks where things are going right, like there were before, before it does a u-turn and everything comes crashing down...

My life is pointless....my friends dont care for me, my family drive me up the wall and I am just left on my own...
I've been there DREAM Angel.

Never forget your dreams, fight for them, whatever you want, most of all, fight for it.

Satan messes with us, he's real, he's all around, cast him out of your life, in the name of JESUS CHRIST.

In the name of JESUS CHRIST, and by the power of the Melchizedek Priesthood, which I hold, I cast Satan and his demons out of Dream Angel's life forever.

I've been there Dream Angel. My life came crashing down about 3 years ago, I had stopped paying my tithing, and was injured in a motorcycle accident and couldn't walk and so I couldn't work, and was home for a year without a job, I had too much time to think, I seriously thought about suicide, but I don't like pain, and that's what you'll be facing if you take your own life, pain multiplied 100 times worse than this life.

What turned me around was Jesus, he literally came into my apartment. I knew he was there, he touched me and lifted me out of all that despair and set me back on my feet.

I'm praying for you, never give up, keep fighting, things will change, it's only a test.

Satan has no power over anyone or anything but what we give him.

Listen to these songs. Children's Songbook Selections (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

We must become like little children in order to enter the kingdom of our Eternal Father in Heaven.

What we go through in this life has been divinely designed for our ETERNAL growth, it will make us stronger, MUCH stronger and more determined.

Our Heavenly Father will help us if we let him, non of us are perfect, if we were, we would need no further testing and we would be gone from this world.

Most of the time, there is something in the room or home that brings a bad spirit, THROW IT OUT. It may be a movie, a CD, a book, etc. Whatever it is, THROW IT OUT. It works Dream Angel, the Lord will tell you what to get rid of, whether it's a person or a thing that's holding you back.

I meant no harm, but we are trained as pastoral counselers in the usa to recommend someone who is contenplating suixide to a clinical professional. It is the safest approach to keep from being sued or feeling regret later. Once again, i hope dream angel finds what she needs.

And the LDS church has their own professional counseling system that she could be referred to.

My father was one of those professionally trained LDS counselors, who worked for the LDS church for 25 years as a marriage and family counselor.

That's an option in many cases, but really we can help ourselves, in most cases, by drawing upon a higher power, the one who made us.

Pray, pray, pray. Prayer changes things.

Dream Angel,

I remember you discussed getting a good deal on a horror film a while back, so I'm sure you must have a collection of horror films in your room. Throw them all out, it will bring a horrible spirit into your life.

Any other movies, CDs, books, magazines, etc., with stuff in it, that is not in harmoney with the SPIRIT OF THE LORD, has to go, if you want your life to change.

It's your choice, we always have a choice, no matter what situation we're in.

I understand that you said it for the right reasons, sorry if you thought I took it offensive. :)

as I am really considering it right now...

I dont know why I bother....

What do you think will happen if you kill yourself? I have thought about it many times. I find talking it out helps better than trying to repress it. I see a lot of people on here saying "don't do it", but if your gonna do it - your gonna do it, you know what I mean?

So let's talk about suicide. In my life I find that I have wanted to kill myself because the pressure of life is just too much. So I then find myself contemplating the afterlife, and then of course God and all of that.
It is a serious step to take in one's life. In some cases you may hurt many around you and in some cases no one will care. To that I have found solice in making my decision for my self and not based on how it effects other people, after all it is my life to choose.
I can tell you for me I always end up at the same place. I personally believe in the possibility of eternal life. I believe if we are one of God's children (and not all are) than we will live on in eternity. On the other hand if we are not one of God's children than when we die, we just die, we cease to exist, no more pain or suffering or anything.

So with all that information we have to dig deep and ask ourselves is there ANYTHING we love about being alive? In the perfect situation, the right weather the right day of the week, all the planets aligned, is there anything we love about being alive?
If there is just one thing no matter how big or small that you love about being alive, it is probably worth hanging on just a little while to ponder how you might spend more time doing or being with that one thing that makes you enjoy being alive. For me it is God. I find the idea of a God that made me and gave me life to breath and the possibility to a perfect eternity to be mind blowing at times. I find that just being alive is the coolest thing in WORLD! I mean many around us make it SO COMLICATED, but we can have comfort in knowing we a tleast know we have a special gift of being alive. Just because everyone is screwing life up and making it so difficult doesn't mean we can't love life. The reason I say that is because this life is so short, and it is part of the journey to realize that we love life, maybe not here on Earth, but we love it all the same. That is what keeps me ticking.

So do yourself a favor, and don't avoid looking deep into your thoughts of suicicde, running from it just will bring it back stronger the next time.

Write me anytime, as I am not going to judge you about anything. I will however, make sure you are doing what is best for you.

Hi Dream Angel,

I hope you are feeling better today.

You are a sweet, sweet person and I hope you soon feel better. I think these dark times come to most of us at one time or another. Please hang in there.

I am sorry to hear that seeking help from a counselor where you live can have negative ramifications. :( That is what I would suggest as well.

Let us know how you are doing.

Love,
Laurie

Thanks - yeah I am feeling OK - not great - I love my job as a healthcare assistant and I am currently in the middle of a 87 hour work week, which sounds a lot, but I am loving it and it is keeping me busy and knowing that I have my residents who rely on me is keeping me going as well..

I have locked my problems away for the moment..just to give my mind a rest...I know I need to sort through them at some point...but now isnt the right time..

As for counselling, I am tempted to ask my Bishop if there is anyone within the Church who will listen to my rambles - to be honest, I dont mind if they are not qualified, sometimes its just good to talk and most people give good advice...

Qualified people tend to go by the book and that isnt necessarily the best way...for example a doctor is telling us we need to reassess a resident whos mobility is deterioating (its a residential home not nursing)..this is what the book states, but we know he has been there years and years, is very old and a move would destroy him.

:)

Greetings Dream Angel. One trusts that you are doing well today. It would seem that you have quite a bit going for you. Having a job which one loves and that has substantiality of hours and includes help for others would be the envy of many.

Since you are a person that leans to faith in God, I would encourage you to consider that if we put our love and trust of worldy goods and affairs before our love and trust in God, Life has a way of going wrong. I think God wants us to Love him first, and then everything else just either works or it doesn't. If we put God first then his plan for our lives can unfold, but if we are putting our own goals first then things just never feel right. At least for me.

Glad to hear you are still around. ;)
Take care,
Mike

The fact that there are people here, replying to your posts, concerned for your well-being is plenty of proof that you are never truly alone - many of us here will undoubtedly be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dream Angel … how are things? I hope that you are feeling better about life and life’s possibilities.
One of the LDS concepts that spoke loudest to me was “preexistence” the reality of this earthly experience being just one step in our eternal progression, our personal spiritual evolution. From that perspective it seems to me that the experiences you are having are no surprise to the real you, the soul of you. In fact, they may be little more that a necessary step in you earth-life-learning-experience. The question is perhaps not “why are these happening? But rather, what can I learn from these experiences? Such experiences are really blessings in disguise …

Things are not great..but they are not too bad either..I still feel quite down at times, but nowhere near as bad as I did that night. Work is helping as I love my job and have been getting quite a few number of shifts recently. In fact I am at work now doing a night shift...:)

I do try and view things as blessings in disguise but it is very difficult at times..
