What's the Weirdest Food You've Eaten?

I guess I'm pretty dull when it comes to "odd" foods. Honestly the "weirdest" things I could think of aren't all that weird. Like rabbit and seaweed. Really, I think the pinnacle of "weird" for me has got to be the stray bug when on a motorcycle. :p

Ah, the chewiness, how I miss you.

Lebanon needs bubble tea.

Ah yes, I miss bubble tea too... there was a little bubble tea craze here in BC, so now there are bubble tea places that have popped up here and there.

Taro is my favourite flavour! ^__^

Bubble tea, sushi... and for specialties, samosas.. Man, those Asians are everywhere here!

Oh, I know. :p Well, except for the taro. And there was a craze? I just liked the taste. :D

Well, when bubble tea cafes start popping up out of nowhere, you can definitely say that there's business. :D

Of course, people find the Filipino 'halo-halo' strange. :D

Crushed ice topped with coconut pieces, condensed milk, fruit, and purple yam ice cream? :D

I used to like a nice Pastrami sandwich, with extra-sharp cheddar, sliced fresh jalapenos, peanut butter, and strawberry preserves.

I'm sure others have eaten weider foods, but off the top of my head:

  • Livers and hearts (chicken, goat/sheep)
  • Intestines (goat/sheep)
  • Tongue (cow)
  • Hooves (goat/sheep, too chewy... maybe it's an acquired taste)
  • Raw meat (not bad, honestly)
  • Goat cheese (okay, not that weird)
  • Songbirds (bite-sized)
  • Eel (those things look weird)
  • Wild plants (some might find that weird)
I'm probably missing something. And I don't really know the difference between goats and sheep, food-wise, hence the goat/sheep.

How about you?

eel or chicken brains

Dessert... food.... It looks interesting. We just have juice cocktails with pieces of fruit and ashta on top. Fresh Levant: Lebanese Fruit Cocktail with Fragrant Avocado and Mango Purées and Ashta

I know! I feel that Filipinos have the most interesting tastebuds... from dinuguan ('chocolate meat' which is pork boiled in pig's blood and seasoned, served with rice), to balut (fertilised duck egg; just add salt to the embryonic fluids and take a bite; you can see the veins and whatnot!), to halo-halo mixing foodstuffs as dessert... And my hate for tripe still stands.

I remember when on Fear Factor, they were eating fertilised duck eggs... I was saying in front of the TV, "Y'all are a bunch of cowards!!" LOL. Non-European peoples have an easier time enjoying such foods, I think. :D

That fruit cocktail looks delicious though!!

Oh, a strange taste of food I had before was that Middle-Eastern yogourt drink with cucumbers, yogourt, salt, and pepper... I enjoy it now, but when I first had it, I thought it was disgusting. I'm used to sweet yogourt drinks (lassi!! :D).

I know they're not Kosher but I was just curious. They taste like strong herbs IMO.

Mmm, ayran. I had some recently.

I'll pass on the fertilized duck eggs, though. I prefer nice, dead duck that's lived at least a year.

Yes, lol.

One day, I made my boyfriend some chapatis with ash-e-reshte (Iranian noodle and vegetable dish), and some dugh (ayran).

He wasn't so keen on the dugh, LOL. But I have enjoyed the drink ever since. :D I make it time to time... but I still prefer lassi: yogourt, strawberries/mangoes, and sugar, with some water... delicious! ^__^

Or just plain lassi, which is just yogourt, sugar, and cardamom. :D

Dragging this back up to let you all know I've had sugar cane and sheep eggs.

Yes, sheep eggs. Or sheep egg, rather. Tastes strange. I figure he doesn't need them anymore. :D
