If one has left this world why would one need to study the torah anymore which was a product of this past life? Does god live in the past? The "after life" is the life after your service.
It is found in the accountabilty of your actions while you exist and how you approved upon to humanity to see a better life for mankind.
Martin Luther king is smiled upon in the after life. We hold onto the world of him with a smile and still speak his name. He can claim a great after life!
In his name and so many others the value of them can only be a testament to what life can be if we consider the world of which we live and the great resources within us to maintain a good world.
