When did/do you get saved?

Muffled

Jesus in me
One is saved from suffering, dissatisfaction and illusion those who keep their mind under control.
Other kinds of 'savings' sounds silly to me.

I believe that works for me but the only way to achieve that is by being free from sin or to have free will removed.

There is the premise that somebody gets saved when they say the sinners prayer. Do you believe that is when you are saved?

If not...why not
If yes...why yes.

Heneni
Hi Heneni, great question! For me personally I'd say my perspective of being saved has changed over time. For example, I was healed from an illness and so I believed I was saved from that illness. I also felt lonely in the world and so felt saved from loneliness. I was also afraid of dying and so felt saved from the fear of dying. And then I learned that Jesus came to save us from our sins (Matthew 1:21) and I noticed that in some areas of my life I had been saved from certain sins and I no longer desired to do them or even entertain them in my mind and heart. But not all. And for a long time I wondered why I still struggled with certain sins. And then I noticed these verses:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16

These are verses I have been practising a lot lately and I've found them helpful in freeing me not only from the sin itself, but from the guilt and shame associated with it. Following are a couple of verses that I'm also very mindful of:

"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:25-26

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:" Luke 6:37

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" Matthew 5:44

So I have found it to be both an immediate and gradual process of being saved, depending on what it was I was focusing on at the time. :)
