When religious beliefs go too far

It's bad enough when the Roman Catholic Church frowns on condom use in AIDS infested and poverty stricken nations. It's bad enough when the Nation of Islam wants to cut off your head and spread their poisonous religion throughout the world. But, the proof that religious beliefs go too far is when those beliefs tell you about going to hell for getting a drop of urine on you. No joke.

If Muslim men urinate standing up they face HELL, because Muhammad used to sit to pee - YouTube

This is yet another example of religion benefiting people. When men pee sitting, they don't leave the toilet seat raised, to the immense benefit of their womensfolk.

I actually agree with this. But, are we so stupid that we need a religion or a god to tell us how to pee?

I've been saying for quite a while: You stand up at a urinal and sit the hell down on a toilet.

Why is the fact that this supposedly stems from a religious belief even relevant? Are not humans universally non-rational creatures regardless of the source of their behaviors and ideas?

I would say that we are emotional and primal creatures that seem driven by related urges.

So... Is the sheikh going to hell for the time he urinated on himself as a baby...?

What if someone has incontinence, or some other urinary tack problems and may need to wear some type of nappy, do they go to hell ?.

Yeah, Islam can sometimes go over the board with certain things. To be fair, Orthodox Judaism is pretty rigid in some of its expectations as well. For instance,

Kapparot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However, with Islam things such as how to use the bathroom are mainly a question of interpretation, especially when it comes to the Hadiths.

The Jews go over board also with their Sabbath, they even tear of toilet paper so when they go to the toilet on the Sabbath they wont have to work to tear it of, and many other weird things also.

Yeah, "Ripping an object in two" is prohibited in Rabbinic law. I suppose though you could tear up your toilet paper into little squares on Friday Afternoon.

Some very orthodox Jews are prohibited from using electricity on the sabbath because technically if you have a bad connection and there is a "spark", the spark is technically a fire.

That said, I highly doubt that the guy in the video posted by the OP represents all Muslims. My brother converted to Islam and I've often been to a mosque with him. There are urinals in the mosque, and the most I've ever heard is that if you have bad aim, to use the sit-toilets as a courtesy to others.

Actually men sitting to urinate allows better empting of the bladder.

Several studies also say you will have less prostate cancer, - which would allow for a longer and healthier sex life.

And sitting will save millions in walls and stalls as there will be no more uric acid overspray.

And how many Muslims share this belief? The far more relevant question is whether your post was intended to spur rational debate or to promulgate irrational hate.
