When you ask me to "open my heart and pray..."? [Question to believers]

How exactly does one 'sincerely' ask a being that I have no reason to believe actually exits to open my heart? Could you 'sincerely' ask invisible unicorns to open your heart?
If one has no belief in their heart, why would they ask how to contact said Being?

The idea that some other being can enter our body is ridiculous to me. I mean a virus or bacteria? Sure. But a whole other person who is you sized? I don't see how it is possible.

If we want to look into this -
It is called over-shadowing.
Jesus was actually in my belief over shadowed by another spirit.
(Their spirit is directed through your crown out your heart.)
It is when 'your' desires become those of another dimensional being (which may even be yourself in another dimension)
This makes decisions come from a greater cause, you give Trust to a higher purpose.
This isn't something you jump into straight away, I don't think this term is normally meaning this directly.
But yea, if it is, it isn't meaning a body swap, or even totally giving up your current identity, and it is not a possession because you still have total control of every decision.

Sometimes in religious debates, christians will ask atheists such as myself to just "open my heart, let Jesus in, and pray that he reveal himself to me".

Yep, you have to "believe" before anything happens. So they are simply asking you to believe, and if you believe, then voila, you will believe. Because if you don't "believe", according to their own standards, then your heart isn't open to begin with and Big J won't come in. So the evidence for the existence of their deity is in the evidence of belief.

Insane.

Let's not be too harsh. It's simply silly, illogical, and irrational - not necessarily insane.

That actually shows how little they know of their own theology. He is already there. It's not a matter of letting him in, it's a matter of realizing he is already there. Now, Jesus is not my God or my view of God, but for most of the west he is.

There is a Tamil saying "The vessel does not know the taste of the rice it cooks; the cutlery is unable to taste the curry it holds. Similarly, some human beings are unable to realize the God who resides in them."
