Where are you on the political compass?

Someone included this link in a post in another thread and I was wondering where everyone stands in their political views according to this website.

My coordinates were:
Economic Left/Right: -5.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.97

Which put me right in with the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela.

I'm so politically naive, I don't even know what the words mean. That's why I didn't bother taking the quiz. I probably couldn't have answered the questions and the results would have meant nothing to me.

From what I've seen, it appears that most everyone so far has been in the bottom left corner of the charts, with only a handful elsewhere. I wonder if that is just a phenomenon on this forum or if it is more widespread throughout our cultures.

I think the most politically vocal people on RF do tend to be 'on the left'. Oddly enough, I think the cross-section of the 'administration' (the mods, smods and admins) is more politically balanced than if one were to take a sampling for all members. (Which doesn't mean that most of the administration isn't liberal- just that the percentage seems to be more balanced.)

I am rather far out in the lower left corner. I also note a problem for people with strong Libertarian view, a severe lack of political options (parties), especially if you are a right wing Libertarian.

I am aware that many forum members, like me, are not Americans but many are. What the US really lacks are some more parties to choose from. What is needed are a party in the middle and at least one in each of the fields. This of course require a proportional election system to work or smaller parties will not be able to win any seats, thus leaving many people without representation.

I think there are several reasons a parliamentary system is preferable to the American system, and it would be nice if we could make the switch. But it doesn't seem likely.

I am a moderate, slightly right-wing, Libertarian and a member of the Libertarian party. While we may be a small party, we are still the largest "third-party" in the country.

Plus, all parties must start somewhere.
