Where did you think babies came from when you were little?

I thought they just appeared in the mommy's tummy randomly. :biglaugh: I learned about the birds and bees fairly early, though. It's hard to live on a farm and not find out before too long.

I never really thought about it. I asked once "What makes my father my father?" but mother dearest dodged my question. I guess it may be kind of the attitude passed down from when all people believed in the goddess that needed no man to give birth, that it happened randomly and had nothing to do with sex.

I didn't even think about it, or if I did, I don't remember. i don't even remember when I learned where babies come from. I guess from when i thought about it I knew that somehow they came from women's stomachs, but I just don't remember.

It seems that even now i don't equate it with sex. I know that people have to have sex to get pregnant, and all that, but if someone has kids, all I think is that they have kids. Then if I think, "they must of had sex to have kids" it always sort of surprises me. Maybe I'm just wierd.

Before you knew the birds and bees thing  .
I just always assumed that when God wanted a woman to have a baby, she just magically got pregnant. I won't even tell you how old I was when I found out there was a little bit more to it than that. You'd all laugh your heads off. :biglaugh: I was also totally grossed out.

I knew where babies came from at an early age. I was 5 when my mom was pregnant with my brother. I don't really remember thinking about it before then. But she had this really neat book that showed pictures of a baby in the womb and she told me the truth about how babies came to be. Unfortunely, I misunderstood part of it and was afraid to even touch a boy for a long time. :p

My mom had 4 other children besides me. I knew where they came from. I just didn't know how they got there and I don't think I every really thought about it until I was in sixth grade (catholic school) and one of the girls told us how babies were made. In a very horrified voice, I might add, and followed that up with the statement that she was going to be a nun because that was just way too disgusting. She must've changed her mind by high school because she gained quite a "reputation".

At any rate, I went home that day and asked my mom and we had our little chat. Looking back I realize that she was the unusual parent. She's always answered whatever questions I had and never made me feel embarrassed about them.

I don't even remember what I thought when I was younger......I did play doctor at a very young age, but didn't go too far......I believed that if we did something wrong it would kill us, or hurt us. I thought there was a reason our parents kept that info from us.

I don't remember what I thought happened, though I seem to remember thinking something along the lines of it just happening if two people loved each other enough. I do remember that when I asked my father, he turned purple and stammered and my mother said 'Oh, for goodness sake you're pathetic', or words to that effect and told me. I guess I was still at primary school at the time.

I can't believe I'm admitting this. Before I knew what sex really was I had seen the images in movies and from around but I didn't understand it. I thought the man urinated and couldn't figure out why people seemed to like it so much, as I was completely disgusted by the whole concept.

I learned in school at a good age with good sex-ed classes, buy my mother would have told me had I asked.

I know at some early age I heard the term "bun in the oven" because I asked my mother on several occasions, while she was pregnant with my younger brother, "when will the baby be cooked?"

Which was a point that my wife and I made sure we used 'on' our children - no way did we want them to be as ignorant as we were. As to the age when I knew ? I'm not really sure - Mum tried telling me something when I was about twenty three, but I thought it gross, and ran away............

At least it felt like twenty three - probably was in late teens though!:D

When your mother's belly swells up and then is suddenly flat again the day after your brother or sister is born it's hard not to put 2 and 2 together. That there was a baby in there was excitedly discussed and never hidden.

In my family there was no attempt to hide the fact that babies grew inside a woman's belly. My mother told me that they got there when my father put his penis in "a special place" between her legs. I didn't press her for details but no-one made up fairy stories about babies in my family.

I remember asking my parents if they prayed when they wanted a baby. They said yes, so I thought that you just had to pray and God would send you one.

I can't even remember. I don't recall any stories about it. I knew my mom had a baby in her bell and that was about it that I can remember. I don't ever recall asking how...then again I was very young.

When my son was 18 months old he knew there was a baby in his mommy's belly. You ask him where the baby was and he would show you...he also knew what a baby was. Even at that age he would cuddle with mom to feel the baby move.

I was the unfortunate recipient of the stork story. And being young and influential I believed it until common sense took over. Being the youngest child, I never got to see my mom pregnant. Yup! There really was someone on this planet that believed giant birds brought babies dangling from their mouths.:biglaugh:

Thank you turk, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. While reading everyone's responses I was starting to believe I was the only one who believed in "The Stork". :biglaugh:

It wasn't until I was about 10 years old that I was told where they actually came from, although at that age I no longer believed in "The Stork". :p

Don't feel bad about believing in the stork story. In my economics class there was a question on a test that had to do with the relationship between storks and babies, and two people answered "because babies really do come from storks". And that was in college. Anyways as far back as I can remember I knew where babies came from. I don't really remember anyone telling me.
