Morning Pegg . Thanks a lot for discussing a very interesting topic like this here .

Firstly , there is no direct verse in the Qur'an which says its physical location , but the following verses obviously suggest it is some where outside of our universe :

[3:133] You should eagerly race towards forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise whose width encompasses the heavens and the earth; it awaits the righteous,

[57:21] Therefore, you shall race towards forgiveness from your Lord, and a Paradise whose width encompasses the heaven and the earth. It awaits those who believed in GOD and His messengers. Such is GOD's grace that He bestows upon whomever He wills. GOD is Possessor of Infinite Grace.

If the width of the paradise is big enough to swallow the whole universe , it is obviously not located within this known universe of ours .

Your second and the third questions may can be answered simultaneously with following verses :

[3:134]
(1)who give to charity during the good times, as well as the bad times. (2)They are suppressors of anger, an(3)d pardoners of the people. GOD loves the charitable.

[3:135]
(4)If they fall in sin or wrong their souls, they remember GOD and ask forgiveness for their sins - and who forgives the sins except GOD - and (5) they do not persist in sins, knowingly.

[3:136]
Their recompense is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens with flowing streams; they abide therein forever. What a blessed reward for the workers!

The above mentioned 05 qualities are the basic conditions to be eligible to enter into the paradise . And to elaborate the definitions of sins as point 4 and 5 stipulate , it will be all the lists in Qur'an which GOD , the Almighty forbids to perform .

Hopefully it helps .

Peace be upon you.

Holy Quran has mentioned the reality of Paradise and Hell as much which no other Book has done so. Rewards of Hereafter are not to be taken physical.

A- Rewards of Hereafter are not to be taken physical.
“And no soul knows what joy of eyes is kept hidden for them, as a reward for their good works.” (32:18)

B-Metaphoric Vastness
[57:22] Vie with one another in seeking forgiveness from your Lord and for a Garden the value whereof is equal to the value of the heaven and the earth; it has been prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messenger. That is Allah’s grace; He bestows it upon whomsoever He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of immense grace.

Once Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be on him) was asked, ‘If Paradise comprises in its vastness Heavens and Earth, where is Hell? He replied, Where is the night when the day comes?’

C- Not Physical
[47:16] A description of the Garden promised to the righteous: therein are rivers of water which corrupts not; and rivers of milk of which the taste changes not; and rivers of wine, a delight to those who drink, and rivers of clarified honey. And in it will they have all (kinds) of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord.

[76:22] On them will be garments of fine green silk and thick brocade. And they will be made to wear bracelets of silver. And their Lord will give them to drink a pure beverage.

Incorruptible water and milk, pure drink (in this world wine is prohibited), garments, bracelets etc …these common names are used so that all kind of people can understand that superior blessings in pure form will be granted in Hereafter. It is like the:

[19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthews ch 6)]

2. how people get there?

When time in this world ends, soul departs from physical body and move on to next stage. Soul get feeling about what is going to come. There will be waiting period in general but extremely pious will immediately get pre-Paradise; its full manifestation will be granted latter on Grand-Day.

[16:33] Those whom the angels cause to die while they are pure. They say: ‘Peace be unto you! Enter Heaven because of what you used to do.’

[26:91]And Heaven shall be brought near to the righteous.

[17:72] (Remember) the day when We shall summon every people with their Leader. Then whoso shall be given his book in his right hand — such will read their book, and they will not be wronged a whit.

[54:55] Verily, the righteous will be in the midst of Gardens and streams,
[54:56] In the seat of truth with an Omnipotent King.
Many verses explain various stages.

Effects of faith and deeds starts from this very world and produce result in Herefater:

[17:14] And every human’s works have We fastened to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open.

[17:73] But whoso is (spiritually) blind in this world will be blind in the Hereafter, and even more astray from the way.
Conditions in dreams make an understanding of other world.

3. Who will get there?

thanks in advance for your replies.

:)

[18:108] Surely, those who believe and do good deeds, will have Gardens of Paradise for an abode.

[2:63] Surely, the Believers, and the Jews, and the Christians and the Sabians — whichever party (from among these truly) believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good deeds — shall have their reward with their Lord, and no fear (shall come) upon them, nor shall they grieve.

Notes:
= Sabians: Sabi is a term used by Arabs for all non-Arabs and non-Semetic religions which have their own revealed Books.
= In this verse, followers of all religions are given assurance that if they genuinely do not fail to recognize the light of Holy Quran and stick honestly to the real teaching of their religions, they will not be denied salvation.

[3:114] They are not (all) alike. Among the People of the Book there is a party who stand (by their covenant); they recite the word of Allah in the hours of night and prostrate themselves (before Him).

[18:111] Say, ‘I am only a man like yourselves; (but) I have received the revelation that your God is only One God. So let him who hopes to meet his Lord do good deeds, and let him join no one in the worship of his Lord.’

[9:72] Allah has promised to believers, men and women, Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide, and delightful dwelling places in Gardens of Eternity. And the pleasure of Allah is the greatest of all. That is the supreme triumph.

Sorry for confusing you there. Some of the translators of Quran used the word heaven instead of the word sky , which in Arabic Sama. While paradise is strictly used for the afterworld as areward ,which in Arbic Jannah.

In short whenever it reads ' heaven and earth' , you may can understand ' sky and earth'.

I am not debating in this DIR

Both Shia and Sunnis are in agreement that Hell and paradise are physical places and the prophet SAAW has seen then in his night journey.

It's important to notice that Jannah from the root Jen have the meaning of "Hiding", Jannah is also a word to call a garden with many trees. In Arabic, some spiritual beings are called Jen.. because we can't see them.

There are more than one plane of existence, if I recall correctly there is a hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the difference between this world and the next is like a drop of water and the ocean.

Note that one does not "immediately" go to either of these places upon death. It is only after the Day of Judgement that people will be led to either one.

As for who goes to paradise, anyone who receives Allah's Mercy. From what I understand, by default, everyone is meant to go to Paradise, just that there are people among us who truly do evil things (not something one can easily simplify) which causes them to end up there. We might think that a person is the most evil person in the world, but he might end up in Paradise. And we might think someone is a very good person, and he might end up in Hell.

It's not in our place to say who goes to Hell or who goes to Heaven. However, we are to always remember that God is Most Merciful. No matter what wrong you do, as long as you are alive you can still repent. Even if you fall into sin again, repent. We were not created to be like the angels, nor were we created to be like animals.

If you reflect on the position of the human being, we are somewhere in between angels and animals. Such that it is possible for a human being to be regarded of a status higher than angels (because he is righteous despite having carnal desire.), and a human being can also be lower than an animal (because he behaves like an animal despite having intellect).

I like that part of your post which I colored red . Thanks for sharing such important philosophical idea .

Paradise is here right now as we speak but very few ever realize it. It is simply and purely a state of being.
