thankyou very much for all the quotes
Can you tell me the difference between heaven and paradise in the quran?
It's important to notice that Jannah from the root Jen have the meaning of "Hiding", Jannah is also a word to call a garden with many trees. In Arabic, some spiritual beings are called Jen.. because we can't see them.
There are more than one plane of existence, if I recall correctly there is a hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the difference between this world and the next is like a drop of water and the ocean.
Note that one does not "immediately" go to either of these places upon death. It is only after the Day of Judgement that people will be led to either one.
As for who goes to paradise, anyone who receives Allah's Mercy. From what I understand, by default, everyone is meant to go to Paradise, just that there are people among us who truly do evil things (not something one can easily simplify) which causes them to end up there. We might think that a person is the most evil person in the world, but he might end up in Paradise. And we might think someone is a very good person, and he might end up in Hell.
It's not in our place to say who goes to Hell or who goes to Heaven. However, we are to always remember that God is Most Merciful. No matter what wrong you do, as long as you are alive you can still repent. Even if you fall into sin again, repent. We were not created to be like the angels, nor were we created to be like animals.
If you reflect on the position of the human being, we are somewhere in between angels and animals. Such that it is possible for a human being to be regarded of a status higher than angels (because he is righteous despite having carnal desire.), and a human being can also be lower than an animal (because he behaves like an animal despite having intellect).
