Where there is a box, there is a cat

Softpaw would sense we were going on a vacation trip, and lie down in back of the car in our driveway. She was a people cat, and didn't want us to go.
Cats are smarter than people think.
We used to take the cats on vacation with us to the Oregon coast when we only had 4 cats, once we even took 6, but when we had more than that we had to get a pet sitter or just not go on vacation at all. I have not been on any vacations since 2012.

Nope, they are definitely cats...I think it may have to do with the fact that both were outside kitties for several years before we moved them inside. They also don't get on the counters, knock everything off the tables and shelves, or...well...no, everything else they do is definitely catish, and not dogish.

It's the same with my cats, except they've been indoor cats all their life.

Golly, imagine having your hard drive reconfigure itself due to random keystrokes from the cat!

But there's no doubt that cats get jealous of anything they can see is occupying your full attention and will try to insert themselves into what you are doing. Ours, when I was growing up, used to come and sit on the newspaper if it was spread out on the table. Nowadays they sit - or walk - on keyboards.

But I'm intrigued by the videos of cats sleeping on the piano while someone plays. Those cats are not trying to interfere with the playing: they seem to find the music restful and pleasant.

One more cat in a box, her name is Princess.
At least she is not sitting of any of my important papers. She is only sitting on my towels.

This jogs my memory of Softpaw lying in a box taking care of her kittens. Strange thing is, she was a calico cat and none of her children were out of two litters. One male cat who was black and white we called Softpaw, Junior, but we just called him Junior. Only female cats can be calico, which indicates they have three colors. A couple of your Persian cats I have noticed have three colors. Calico Persian cats?

All my cats are Persians. I have two calico females, one blue smoke female, one black female, one black and white male, one shaded silver chinchilla male, one red and white male, and one red male. They are called blue and red even though they are really gray and orange, that's Persian nomenclature.

Your blue smoke female looks black to me. I don't know which is which. One is glaring at the camera and looks menacing. Why does one Persian cat look white? That's the shaded silver chinchilla male? That one looks cute to me. Your calico females also look cute, but then I'm partial to calico cats for obvious reasons. I used to think that all Persian cats are white.

Softpaw had a wonderful blend of black and brown areas on white. I used to think that most cats are verbal, because Softpaw was verbal. When she wanted her dinner she would get up to wherever I was and nag me with meows till I fed her. My father liked to converse with her, he would say something and she would meow in return. She was so cute I kept bothering her by petting her all the time while she was asleep. I couldn't help it. One time I did that and she had had enough and she took a swipe at me. I would play with her and she would dig her claws into my hand, but I always knew she knew when to stop and not hurt me. I was her favorite playmate, I loved playing with her. She was the family cat, but in reality she was my cat. We loved each other. I told a friend that she was beautiful, and she answered that she wasn't beautiful. That hurt my feelings. By that time she was old and fat, but to me she looked beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Once I tried a cruel experiment. I was petting a cat in the back yard, and knew that Softpaw was about to get into view of me doing that. When she did, she did exactly what I expected. She ran in the opposite direction like she had discovered her lover with another man.

The cat in the box who looks menacing is Princess, who I call black. I did not post the blue smoke female Silky on this thread, because she is not a box cat, but here she is.

Oh, that is the one that is worrisome because she is the oldest one and from the original batch, or whatever.
Yes, she is the one I have to administer the subdural fluids to. She is about 16 but she is eating okay and gets around as well as the other cats, runs and jumps up on stuff.

Busia, one of the calicos, is the troublemaker. She got into something in the bathroom and it got stuck on her tail and she was dragging it all around the house. It was making such a racket and I did not know what it was. I finally pulled it off her tail.
