sin means anything that entangles you to flasehood. everything you consume has a taint , the real state of the soul is non material , when it comes in contact with material , everything it see's touches or consumes is a product of falsehood which disconnects the soul from its original state.
if soul is pure water .. then everything else that comes in contact makes the pure water as impure.

in hinduism this fusion of the material world with soul is called entaglement with "maya" maya = that deludes the soul and makes it forget itself.

as for the question.. they are both concepts sin and sinner both exist simultaneously.

It has to be sin. You need the ability to do something before you can do it. According to the bible God gave us free will, the ability to sin but not a requirement of sin. The first person that used that ability became the first sinner.

Sin came first. When you put a speed-limit sign of 70 mph, you have designated sin at 71+ mph. But the sinner doesn't come into being until they pass 70mph.

I guess it depends on if you view sin as a breaking of god's rules or one's moral code vs. a spiritually tainted action.

The concept itself doesn't seem to have much value to me, though. The rules can seem arbitrary, or harmful at times (honestly, who does homosexuality harm?), and what taints someone spiritually depends more on the person, IMO (what is a pleasant pass time for some, is a vice for others).

I think a personal code of ethics based on the best information available is the best course of action. No two people are alike, nor are the things that stumble them in life.

This is like asking if it's possible for a "celebrant" (noun) to come before or after "celebrating" (verb). A subject comes in tandem with an action. Someone who is celebrating is a celebrant. Someone who sins is a sinner. If a human can conceptualize the construct, the ideas emerge at the same time.

My proposal that the 'human was first,' because the concept of sin and the sinner are cultural labels, primarily based on a Christian perspective that human is predisposed to sin, fail or 'miss the mark,' because the human is flawed from 'Original Sin' and the Fall. Therefore human become inherently flawed and 'sinners' because of the Fall.

All cultures in history have the concept of right and wrong, but the concept of the 'Fallen' sinner, the flawed human carrying the burden of guilt from generation to the next is primarily a Christian worldview.
