Which came first: the sinner or the sin?

So-called "sin," evolved with, and from, humankind's need to survive in a harsh earth environment.

It you are starving - you will steal food.

Is stealing food when you're starving a sin, though? In Islam we can eat pork when our lives are in danger.

I'd like to know when the transition came - from the first sinning proto-human ancestors or from a previous ancestor strain in our evolutionary past. Oooh, such bad creatures!   :p

Perhaps it came when predation became the norm for many species.

Predation is the norm for many species. In the contemporary view of species. The line between species and related species. Related primates have simple codes of right and wrong and will punish offenders.

Yes, I know about the latter. I was wondering about the chasm between the herbivores and the carnivores. Why might that be? And when and why did this occur?

I'm interested in any religious perspective.

Predation is the nature of life almost from the beginning. Microrganims differentiated between vegetarian, omnivore and carnivore at the earliest stages of evolution. Humans have become intelligent opportunistic omnivore.
