which is easier? And which is more rewarding?

This is a loaded question and too simplistic. It depends on what form of theism, and the options of Agnosticism, Deism, Pantheism, and other alternatives.

I believe that atheism is easier to justify than the exclusive claims and beliefs of ancient religions and belief systems based ancient scripture and mythology. These ancient beliefs are illogical and irrational when claim to stand along as THE only true religion.

Atheism is meaningless, so it's 'easy' in that sense. I can be a murderer or a wonderful human being and still meet the requirements of atheism in a moral sense, since there are none.

Some folks mistake this for immorality, and then further mistakenly attribute immorality to atheists.

Atheism is amoral. And atheists are a mixed bag, with 'morals' being variable (as they are with theists).

How do you mean easier? Never gave it any thought. I don’t base my beliefs on how easiy they are to hold, but rather on the truthfulness of the belief.

It does get tiring to have theists drag out the same old arguments that have been refuted, sometimes hundreds of years ago, so that isn’t always easy.
As far as how easy it is to hold the belief that there are no gods, it doesn’t really require any effort, only an acknowledgement that there is no good evidence to suggest such belief is warranted.

Easier? In what way? Easier to believe in?

I believe one of the aspects of being easier, is less contradictions with science and nature and extent of our knowledge today.

Atheism, and agnosticism have less contradictions to deal with in the contemporary world, than ancient religions like Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
