Study it generally first. Then select from there. Just like sorting out a giant pile of fruit until you find the tastiest mango.
The basic books like "Hinduism for Dummies", or better yet, "What is Hinduism?" The English books explaining it will take you further than jumping right into scripture, in my opinion anyway. Also, get thine body off to a temple somewhere, since Hinduism is more experiential than scriptural. Watching actions speaks louder than reading books.
Did I read somewhere that you see god as female? Or have an attraction to the goddess?
They just opened the new huge super temple here in jersey. I have been wanting to check it out, do you know any good titles for the kindle?
The Shakta (mother goddess) sect might attract you. It still views God as male and female, but has a special regard for the Goddess, believing that she is the one who listens and helps. If you do happen to find that curious, our resident Shakta is DeviChaaya. She knows a lot about it and what is good to read.

I've heard about this sect. In India, aren't they viewed in a more negative light?
Ill assume you all know a lot about my lovely self and can help point a school of thought to study
What did you find incompatible/Upon further reflection .... I actually don't think Hinduism is for you. I looked at some of your posts and came to this conclusion. Hinduism really isn't for everyone.

Haha no worries friend im gonna do what im gonna do regardless of anyone, but hearing your "concerns" can highlight issues sects to avoid etc.Too much to mention, but you have to remember I'm pretty much a traditionalist. There are many others here who would vary. I really think you'd be better off reading some of the stuff I (we) suggested instead of listening to some old fool like me, before coming to any conclusions.
Here were a couple spots though .. Vegetarianism and some quote about a cow being better dead than alive, black magic
There is no offense intended, I just think not everything is for everybody, nd sometimes it might be beneficial to cut to the chase. We Hindus, unlike other faiths, rarely proseltyse, after all. Maybe that was the hidden point I was trying to make. And of course you can do whatever you wish.
Hmm is she equated or similar to mother earth? But I guess aren't most motherly goddess?
I've heard about this sect. In India, aren't they viewed in a more negative light? Especially if they worship Kali? That they are more superstitious?
