Person With Questions
The "Hell question" is something that has plagued many people that I know, and also is generally recognized as an obstacle for many. What verses, specifically, refer to the existence of Hell? What do we know about it Biblically, and does that contrast with the popular perceptions we have?

The popular thing is to say "hell does not exist" but that is wishfull thinking. I'm sure satan would like nothing better than for people to think hell is not really there. Anyways, why does evil exist (another thread) pretty much covers the hell thing... Yes, we have a free will, yes, actions actually have consequences....

I don't know about the fire and brimstone thing, to me the worst hell is not physical suffering but mental anguish from personal regrets...

How about a thread on Heaven? that would be more uplifting I think...

Thank you so much for sharing these! I hadn't realized there were so many references to Hell in the Bible. Yes, sister, you're right, a thread on Heaven would be great.

None! Bible translations do though.

Well from my studies the word "hell" has been used a couple of different ways and the two most used are 1- The grave and 2- Ge Hinnom which is a valley with a never ending flame. Try and change the word "hell" to "the grave" and "hell fire" to "Ge Hinnom and see if it makes more since. I find now where of the hell I was taught of as a child with the devil with horns and a pointy tail and a pitch fork. ;)
