well i am of the human race, but my kinship and ancestry is english, and i am not so nieve to think racism doesnt ,exist of course it does, and it is non racial everyone is capable of racism to everyone else, i am sorry you have come across it i too have come across it , but i dont see it everywhere because it isnt everywhere, i think racism is just ignorance ,lack of personal education of other cultures , i think your last few posts were building up to your question, what is my race , does it matter, my comments on the adverts are that they wouldnt be shown here because the political correctness adherents would not let them for fear of offending black people. i am on RF to learn about other religions especially Islam as i dont want to stereotype. if you have the impression i am speaking from a racist point of view your are mistaken.
I don't think you are speaking from a racist point of view, no. I am just saying you might not notice or be exposed to it unless you are of the race being targeted.
I think everyone is of the human race- but we are still all different and shouldn't ignore the differences, if we were all the same how boring would that be. I don't understand the idea of people getting along with people
in spite of their differences, but getting along
because of their differences.
With those differences come different viewpoints and backgrounds and cultures and different ways of seeing things- I've been confused at why someone was offended at something that didn't really effect me. (For example, Oriental in refering to Asian people, I never understood why that would be taken as offensive when it wasn't meant that way until someone explained that it was seen as patronising and like the word Negro in reference to black people.)
I am very glad you are here to learn, I am here for the same reasons and have learned so much.
my comments on the adverts are that they wouldnt be shown here because the political correctness adherents would not let them for fear of offending black people.
This in particular- perhaps there is a reason they would be offended by them and what's wrong with being sensitive to that?
I don't really see PC as politicaly correct anymore, I see it as polite and courteous. A lot of people mock PC and mistake it for being a set of euphemisms and ignore the idenity politics of those who are still struggling for rights (women, minourities, GLBTQP, the disabled) and the fact what you call something does effect how you feel about it.
