Who are the People of God?

I believe you are from the people of God when you obey God's law.
God's law is defined in the 66 books of the Bible, nowhere else.
If you obey God's law you will live forever.
That is the old dispensation. The new is connected to the coming of the Holy Spirit left behind by Jesus.

Mathew 12:31-32

  • 31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men,but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Forgiveness of sins take care of not following the law 100%. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth. Law was needed because people did not know the truth, and needed to be guided to the truth. But if you have the spirit of truth, you have the truth within you, and do not need the guard rails of law. If you ignore the law, that will be forgiven, but if you deny the inner truth, even for the law, that is not forgivable.

The analogy is you go to school to learn, with your teachers offering guidelines, to train your mind in each subject. But say you were a natural or gifted musician and can pick up a guitar and lay complex pieces without any training. Instruction may not be needed, and may even inhibit your natural gift. You have an odd way of holding the guitar, but it works for you. To hold it "properly" may screw you up. The inner voice of the spirit; inner self, is like a natural gift, where your unique way is the right way for you. To deny this, for conformity, taints the gift.

Paul makes the contrast of the children of the bondsmen; law, and the children of God; gift of the spirit of truth. If you think about any law, one can always come up with hypotheticals, where the law may be too harsh or too black and white and not gray enough. Law is not perfect and can do harm in some situations. The spirit of truth is more situational, and can over ride the law of black and white when dealing in the hypotheticals, and still be righteous. Breaking the law will be forgiven, since you followed the truth in that hypothetical gray situation. But if you know this is a gray area, but you still snitch on your neighbor, to the law, that is not forgivable. Some use law like a weapon and then act self righteous. With the gift of the spirit, comes great responsibility, that can make you the target of the self righteous;Joan of Arc.

Totafos: A hybrid vegetable created by crossing potatoes and tomatoes.

Are they kosher?

;)

Crossing potatoes and tomatoes? This changes everything! I'm going to the market. I need produce. Lots of it.
That's actually a real thing
They ain't called totafos tho.

Since they are in the same family you can graft the two plants together.

Edit: seems it's easier to graft a plant that grows both rather then creating a new vegetable
Here's how: What is a Pomato Plant and How to Grow It
Making a hybrid where it's a new vegetable is more difficult googling and in at least one case created a posinous fruit.

Edit again: nevermind about poisonous fruit turns out that was misinformation...but the graft thing is real.

Sorry adhd got me. I just immediately thought of plant grafts talking about tomato's and potatoes and went offtopic.

Back to on topic...

Totafos looks like a fun word. Rich with meaning at first glance looking at the Google search. Definitely not something I would notice not knowing Hebrew and only reading in English.

According to my beliefs both God and Jesus can both forgive sins, so one single mistake certainly does not lead to hellfire.

“It is also recorded in the Gospel according to St. Luke, that on a certain day Jesus passed by a Jew who was sick of the palsy, and lay upon a couch. When the Jew saw Him, he recognized Him, and cried out for His help. Jesus said unto him: “Arise from thy bed; thy sins are forgiven thee.” Certain of the Jews, standing by, protested saying: “Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” And immediately He perceived their thoughts, Jesus answering said unto them: “Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, arise, and take up thy bed, and walk; or to say, thy sins are forgiven thee? that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins.” 7 This is the real sovereignty, and such is the power of God’s chosen Ones!”
(The Kitáb-i-Íqán, pp. 133-134)

According to Jesus, there is only one sin that is unforgivable.

Matthew 12
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

The Holy Ghost is the Holy Spirit. According to Baha’i beliefs, the Holy Spirit is the Bounty of God. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is detestation of the Bounty of God, the divine perfections. In a sense then it is detestation of God since one hates the divine perfections (God’s qualities).

Speaking out against Jesus can be forgiven for the following reason: Jesus was like a lamp that reflected God’s qualities. It is forgivable to hate the lamp, because one might not recognize that the lamp is from God, if they don't see the divine qualities of God reflected in the lamp. What is unforgivable is to hate the lamp itself.

Luckily I was talking about Christians. They believe HaShem is sending everyone to hell except Christians, because one sin is enough and stealing a penny candy is the same as murder.

I'm not Bahai and I don't know diddly about it.

Christians do believe HaShem is sending everyone to hell except Christians, but not because of sin, since they believe that Jesus wiped their sins away when he died on the cross.

Adam 45,

I would remind you to read Paul's letter to Timothy where he instructs him how to properly administer the gospel, (2 Tim 2:11-18). He references a couple of fellows who like you have erred concerning the truth.
You obviously fall into that same category. You may have read but you have not studied as Paul says. You are not approved in any way.

For the benefit of those who might appreciate the scripture, i will present it here
.
To Timothy,
It is a faithful saying; For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us; If we believe not , yet he abideth faithful, he cannot deny himself. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words that do not profit, but lead only to the subverting of the hearers.
STUDY to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, but shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness, and their words will eat as doth a canker, of whom is Hymenaeus , Philetus;
(and now apparently you).

You are flapping your gums about things you know nothing about. You say you want respect? well, respect runs this way, and goes hand in hand with trust.
In the beginning of any relationship, both respect and trust are freely given. If either one betrays the trust, respect will fail and the relationship falls apart.
If there is a true desire to restore that relationship on the part of the one who betrayed it, he or she must now earn it! You say you want respect? You will now have to earn it.

I hope you realize that one must accept messiah from the heart, if it is only in the mind it does not count, it must go to the heart.
