The moon wasn't 'built' it began as a large piece of molten lava. There are two theory's and one hypothesis.
Giant impact hypothesis- Dust particles created from the earlier suns development formed the moon. The Moon collided with earth leaving it in its orbit. (Most likely)
Co-formation theory-The moon and earth formed at the same time.
Capture theory-Earth's gravity snagged a passing body
Why are all the pictures of the moon grey and not colored?
Actually Luna is more the color of dark asphalt. It only looks grey because we usually see it lit up in full sunlight while we are on the dark surface of the Earth viewing it in a darkened sky. The type of rocks that Luna is made of is mostly basalt. Basalt is an extrusive volcanic rock. It is formed by rapidly cooling magma at the surface.
Why does Nasa blur out certain portions of the moon in pictures?
National Aeronautics and Space Administration imaging was as good as those of its time. Thus you have some blurred photos. I suggest looking at more recent ones including imaging of the dark side of the moon.
Where Noah's Ark is said to be by some on this forum. As well as swimming in the oceans of Japan with Free Willy.
Why is the Moon so large for a moon?
Luna's size was a result of the mass it contains. If it less it would be smaller. If it had more it would be larger. The moon is a large satellite compared to those of Mars which are small more or less useless minor satellites.
Why did the Moon "ring like a bell" when Nasa blew up some TNT on the surface?
Sound travels in waves.. Sound waves travel by making molecules vibrate. In order for sound to travel there has to be something with molecules for it to travel through. On Earth sound travels to your ears by vibrating air molecules. In space the large empty areas between stars and planets vacuums. There are no molecules to vibrate. There is no sound there.
