Saw this on another forum, and thought it was fun. If you go to this website, and copy and paste a blog or something where you have a sample of your writing style, the website will let you know...who your writing style resembles. I copied and pasted a blog I posted elsewhere, and it came back 'Dan Brown.' I don't care for this result. lol

I submitted Four different blog posts and got:

David Foster Wallace.

Stephen King

H. P. Lovecraft

Jonathan Swift

Then, just for kicks, I resubmitted the David Foster Wallace piece and got Stephen King the second time around.

Some stylistic influences....
Theodor Geisel (aka Dr Suess)
Kurt Vonnegut
John Kennedy Toole
William Topaz Mcgonagall
Douglas Adams
Jonathan Collier
David Mamet

Submitting 4 different samples, the link in the OP says I write like....
Kurt Vonnegut
Cory Doctorow
Dan Brown (twice)
Of these 3, I've only read KV.

What an interesting thread!

I submitted longer posts from private messages and I got: David Foster
Then, I added posts from the open forums and the result was: James Joyce.

That's quite a diverse set of authors. How intriguing.

I tried 5 long texts written over the last 20 years, 3 published and 2 not, and got
Shakespeare
Lovecraft
Wodehouse
Poe (twice)

How can an article on Bronze Age chronology read like Lovecraft? At least I got Shakespeare and not Dan Brown!

I'm going to throw in some posts that show more of a debating style, and see what the outcome is lol...when I blog, I'm more casual in my writing, and I want to say that's Dan Brown-esque...I've never read his work, but not interested in reading it either.

To resemble Poe would be divine.

Okay, so I copied and pasted a few posts from the Determinism thread that I started recently, and Kurt Vonnegut came up as the result.

I'm a split personality writer? :confused::D

I got Mario Puzo for one post I did.

If you're terrible at writing will it say, "You write like... the Hulk"

wut if sum1 typin lyk dis tries it, they're forced to give them some famous historic writer? Great stuff.

I've done this a few times, and it's good for a laugh. I've never gotten Dan Brown for any of my attempts. Good. That guy cannot write.
