Who here actually converted to a religion from Atheism/Agnosticism?

I was a strong atheist as a child, raised in non-religious household. I enjoyed studying religions and cultures from a young age, just because it was interesting.

Now I'm a nebulous mystic.

Yeah, I suppose it is interesting.

I was raised in a catholic family and cannot even remember a day when I believed that a god could exist. As soon as legally possible I asked to be removed from the church registry and became an official atheist at the age of 14. I think it was the equivalent of being excommunicated.

Although, I had more than one near death experience and some rather traumatic experiences throughout my life, i do not recall one instatn when i wanted to go hide behind some god or ask one to make it better.

Anyhow, I studied religions all my life--starting when I got access to various scriptures in translation at around 11 or 12. While I do not believe that gods exist and look at religions from a structural-functional and historiocultural perspective, it is still a fascinating subject to me.

I visited Atheism shortly until I had sorted out what I really believed in. It's a practical stop for someone who wants to shake loose of a lifetime of outside influence.
That's an interesting and good way to put it. It holds true for me. Saying "Not this!" is a good way to clear the playing field, to take back control. Then you can sort out what really attracts you spiritually.

I was not religious growing up. Had an NDE which opened my mind, to put it mildly. Later converted to Christianity to try to find what I found spiritually through that experience. Left them and identified as an atheist for a number of years until finding an avenue to grow in my spiritual life and find atheism to be irrelevant to where I am now. I haven't converted to any religion, but you could say I'm eclectic and find Truth in many expressions and faces of God, so to speak.

Grew up agnostic and even developed an anti-Christianity streak over time. That "worked" for me until I finally found myself in a situation I couldn't get myself out of. I was staring death in the face and cried out to whatever gods/God reveal itself to me. The guy that I felt answer me was the one I was 150% sure didn't exist.

I converted from atheism/agnosticism to "pointless even labelling it as I'm basically just a rationalist and people will misinterpret what you mean by atheist or agnostic anyway depending on which false definition they've been told."

I was raised by Catholic parents but turned away from Christianity as a teenager. I flip-flopped between atheism and agnosticism for many years before finding my current path, Hinduism.
