Who is the King of the U.S.A.?

I think it's worse than deception (which is by definition intentional)...they all generally believe what they say.

That has not been my experience.

I got the school board of Ontario to pull what I saw as damaging information on drug use and abuse that was being given to our children. Their own information showed that this particular information was encouraging use instead or discouraging it yet they were still running it to try to recoup costs.

If they believed they were doing good, it did not take much on my part to show them that they were in fact doing evil.

Did they know it? I think so.

I gave my main reasons in the O.P. but if you want to think you live in anything other than an oligarchy then by all means continue to do so.

I think an oligarchy would be better than what we have....it would provide more coherence across policies & time. Alas, I say the voters are the ones who rule with the greatest power. I blame us.....er....you guys.

Your OP didn't prove that we live in an Oligarchy. It merely showed that politicians and the media are controlled, to a large degree, by the rich. Nothing surprising there, and it certainly does not mean that the US is an Oligarchy. It could be said that there are aspects of it sprinkled in our Representative Democracy, but it is an incorrect classification.

I blame good honest (but ill considered) intentions.

Seems neither of us is American. I am Canadian. But that does not matter as we all live in oligarchies.

In a way, I agree that a more open system with us knowing who really rules us would have many benefits.

That is why I advocate for an open and transparent system regardless of who is pulling our strings.

I want to know who owns me. I think we should all want to know.

Revoltistan (my country) is in southeast MI, near Ann Arbor.
We're currently in hostile occupation of Americastan.

Perhaps. It all depends on your own subjective thinking.
