Who Started the "God is Gay" thread?

I did see it pop up, and ignored it because I thought it was so ridiculous, and I did not wish to be caught in that blast. I did see it as deeply offensive, but so is the use of Drones in warfare.

I don't know if it scrolled off the page or if it got um "Moderated".

There! I said my piece. I still feel that God does not need me defending him.

Well. Its easy to do because its not a well know common understanding who and what god is in order to understand why and the affect it has on god as a concept in another persons mind.

You cant offend something nonexistant. So, in that logic, I kinda dont see the issue. Now, if it were in an all christian environment, and I said that, wooah, that would not go to well.

The title of the thread was "the Bible is gay."

I proceeded to show that some tendencies that a person sees in some homosexuals can be seen in the Bible coming from God.

I don't believe the Bible is true, therefore I don't believe God is gay.

But I gave a pretty thorough argument for why some of the Bible appears homosexual.

One is how obviously the Bible God prefers men over women.

The title of the thread was partially a joke though.

Do I think God is gay? No I do not.

The Bible seems very gay to me in some places. It has a very gay feel to it in many places Imo.

That doesn't mean I think God is gay.

Jesus chose 12 male apostles.
Jesus fed his body and blood to a table full of men. He wanted to become one flesh with men. He surrounded himself with men

The great miracle-working prophets were all men and the Bible was written by men.

It appears that God loves having intimacy with men. The poor man was taken to Abraham's bosom. That just seems gay when I read it.

I can give a ton of other examples but I'm on my phone.

Your logic is not in my Universe.

I hesitate to "Ignore" people because I want to know opposing points of view, though they are not likely to change mine.

Despite Fundamentalist Christians hurting and despising me, much of my religious thought is like them because it is not all bad. I'm just trying to get rid of the sanctimonious, judgmental part.

The intimacy that God desires to have with men appears much greater than what he desires with women.

There are Bible verses that would indicate God has an aversion for women.

not all gay people have an aversion for the opposite gender , but some of them do.

It just seems like a bit of a sausage fest to me.

But I could be mistaken. When I read the Bible, it just seems there's something quite gay about it at times.

Since many cant seperate the bible, when you say the bible is gay, its calling god gay. Thats why its an issue.

I guess a better title of the thread would have been "the Bible is misogynistic."

I'm well aware that homosexuality is not misogyny, but a man who prefers the company of men over women seems kind of gay to me.

If he's all powerful and capable of working miracles, he could have had lots of lady friends who did that.

Instead he chose guys.

If I was a miracle worker, I would prefer the company of women because I'm heterosexual.

If there could be a female equivalent of Jesus Christ or Moses, I think that would make Christianity a lot better.

Religious Forum for me is about the opportunity to have courteous, respectful and reasonable conversations with peoples from different worldviews and religions. There seems to be plenty of people around who want to do just that.

There’s a lot of politics and nutty stuff that doesn’t interest me at all. It took me all of a few seconds to realise that particular thread wasn’t for me.

Fine! It was not a good thread.

it's just when I read the Bible it does seem like there are some aspects of God that resemble something a homosexual would do.

I would rather pray to a female than to a male. I would also prefer reading the Bible if there were just as many miracle-working female Prophets.

I cannot think of a single one. Queen Esther was not a miracle worker in any way that defies scientific explanation, and doesn't appear to be a prophet either.

The thread may have been brilliant for all I know. The title was a turn off for me. Ellen isn't the first person I've heard who felt offended. I wasn't offended, just disinterested because of the title.

I was too at first but popeadopes points turned out to be rather insightful.

Men, men, men, men.
Men, men, men, men.
It's great to be at a table with men
And eat with those I see, oh
We don't know if we're done or when,
But it's great to be with men.
It's great to be with men

'Cause men can sweat and men can stink
And no one seems to care-o,
We'll throw the dishes in the sink
And clog the drain with hair-o
And clog the drain with hair-o

The tune.....

I like Pope and I think he knows that. I agree he makes interesting and insightful points. He's obviously intelligent and knowledgeable. He makes RF a more colourful and interesting place. It must be tough having a major mental illness and addictions that I know Pope is open about.
