Who Was The Women That Cain Married?

hotep

What do you think about understanding the stories of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel as mythology? not as stories that are false but as sacred stories that may not have actually happened but have some spiritual truth to them? This would get rid of the question of where did Cain get his wife.

I believe every story comes from an event that took place,
I dont blieve that the story comes first
and than the event.

you said that you agree with the christains.

are you a christian?

No. I said I agreed with ChristineES (not Christians, though she is a Christian), when she said:

ChristineES said:
I also always assumed she was Cain's sister.

You should distinguish between Christians and ChristineES (a lovely lady).

As to me, I am philosophically - an agnostic.

Did you read my reply in post #7?

I have given you a couple of sources, which explain that there are some Jewish texts that mentioned Cain marrying his sister, but only in the Book of Jubilees is she mentioned by name. Her name in this text, is Aswan.

It doesn't mean that I believe in the bible or these extra-literary texts; I am just AWARE of other primary sources, not just the bible used by the Christians.

If you were a scholar, you would, and should be aware, that there are other texts out there, beside what is found in the Christian Bible. The Jews have whole literature that relate to the Tanakh (or the OT Bible), and in particular the Torah, such as the Talmud, which explain or interpret the laws (Torah), Midrash, Haggada, the Apocrypha and the Pseudepigrapha (which is where the Book of Jubilees belonged to).

Did you know the OT Bible don't contain anything about the rebellion of heaven, which include how Satan fell?

You have to read other texts to find such thing.

Then what do you think "rebellion" means?

There's just the simple "disobedience".

And then there's the "disobedience" plus "conflict", which usually mean armed conflict or war between those obey and those who disobey.

The OT Bible had never given any reason why Satan had fallen. In the Book of Job, Satan was merely an agent or intermediary of God, who did God's bidding in testing people's faith. He is the "adversary" (which is what his name means) of man, not God.

The nature of Satan changed during Hellenistic period, and especially during the Early Christian period where Satan became the Devil. But we are going off topic here.

Returning the subject of Cain's wife, logicially it would be his sister...if you actually believe the literal myth that Adam and Eve were the very first humans, and that there were no humans before them.

To me, I view the whole 1st eleven chapters of Genesis being a myth, or more precisely, a "creation myth". Full of symbols and religious truths, but lacking in physical substances and evidences to support it.

Are you Christian, Jew, Muslim, pagan, atheist, etc, hetop? What are your religious background?

You have asked me, and I have told you that I am agnostic. At least do me the courtesy of returning the favour.

Who do you think is Cain's wife, hotep?

Do the Qur'an say anything about it?

Is she his sister?

Or she is a woman unrelated to Adam and Cain?

Where Did This Women Come From ?

From somewhere else.
The Biblical story of creation is allegorical, told from the standpoint of the family of God. From the perspective of the writers, some people were "Godly" and some were not. The wife came from an "unGodly" tribe, not mentioned in the creation account, for theological reasons.

Based on "what"?

The Bible clearly doesn't state it. I would like to know where your information come from.

Easy as pie. Because there was other races/people outside of Eden. In the Land of Nod. Cain married a woman from there. Here is the scripture.

Genesis 4:16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the Land of Nod on the east of Eden.

Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son--Enoch.
