I hope you do not mind me putting my two cents?
It really pertains to who’s writings you are reading. When Danial wrote, because he was living at the Time when Babylon was the World Empire, so he counted from that nation, which was the 3rd, so that makes Rome the the 4th Kingdom, or Beast, Danial 7.
If you count the way that The Apostle John did it was the Kingdom he was living in, it was the 6th. This is because the Sevenheaded Wild Beast represented all the World Powers, starting from Egypt, then Asyria, then Babylon, the Meades and Persions, Greece, Rome, then another 2Horned head, representing Britain and the United Stated, the 7th head.
There will be only one more World Power, the 8th, and this World Power will be The United Nations. This is explained clearly T Revelation 17:11, shown to Be then Not Be The Be Again. This is speaking first about The zleague of Nations which started in 1920, then it went out during WW2, then came back again in 1945 as the United Nations. Danial, when speaking about the 8th King, says that he will get powerful, ut not by his own power. This is because, the Ten Kings, mentioned at Revelation 17:11,12,16. The United Nations starts a war against the Great Harlot that is riding the Seven headed Scarlet Colored Wild Beast, Revelation 17:3-7. The United Nations will conquer, but will then come against the Prince of Princes, Jesus. This will bring on Armageddon, which will be Jesus Judging the world, then the New System, which the Bible calls The New Heaven and New Earth, Revelation 21:1-5, Paradise Earth!!! Agape!!!

3 power positions on earth- 1) govts, 2) commercial system, 3)religion -- After Babylon the great is done away with it shows the commercial system is still standing and govts are still standing. But the one who rides the back of the beast( untaxed religions) is all false religion is Babylon the great.

The bible teaches--- Babylon the great falls at the hand of the 7 headed beast with 10 horns. Like a swift pitch into the sea( very quickly) never to be again. The merchants stand at a distance and mourn the fall of Babylon the great--their shelves remain full( no more religious holidays)--worldwide layoffs If shelves are full so are the factory shelves, etc. The tribulation begins.

Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. 11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Five former presidents are currently alive. Trump is, Pence isn't yet, but when he is he won't be long. The eighth king will be one of the seven who once was president. Will Trump be the eight king?
