Whole body or organ farming

Rather than asking for my body to be consigned to the flames (since I am a Hindu), I am thinking of giving the whole body for study and research or a request to farm the still useful organs in my body for transplantation in people who might need it. For medical study and research, they need he whole body. They do not mind if it is missing the cornea.

At 80, with a history of smoking, I do not think my heart may be in a good condition, though it is still working. But perhaps cornea, kidneys, lungs, liver, spleen, etc. could still be used. I have not had any other serious illness in my life. Also consider the time it would take for my body to reach the hospital for further action if I do not die in a hospital. The organs may deteriorate during the transportation which could be considerable in India.

I neither believe in nor desire any next life. Please advise, what do you think can be the best use of my body after death? With this, I would kick away the last ego - 'my body'.

Research is always good. Even if they just use it for research its beneficial.
Used to be if you donated your body to science, medical schools would usually arrange for donated bodies to be cremated and returned to the family when done.

The body is returned if it has been given for organ farming. Whole body donation (obviously) does not involve return of the body. It is used by medical students for dissections in anatomy classes.

The donated body doesn't disappear. After the research medical schools would usually arrange for donated bodies to be cremated and returned(the ashes) to the family when done.

According to All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences here in Delhi, there is no return. I do not know how they finally dispose it. The family can see it once after embalming within three days.

Donating your body to help people in need of your organs is, i think, the best thing in life that you can do.

It best if you are in hospital when you die so the organs will be viable when harvested. Living a distance from the hospital is a problem. Organs begin to decompose shortly after death but tissue such as skin, bone, heart valves and eyes can be used up to 24 hours after death.

For use in medical research will also help train more competent doctors.

I would never give my body for organ harvesting, but in your case it might be good. And when you don't plan/desire to return, you don't need it anymore

Just hands won't be enough. Where will you get them fixed? You will need two whole arms (along with hands).

And when you don't plan/desire to return, you don't need it anymore.
