I'm friends with Tim O'Reilly who is arguably the best computer book publisher in the world.

I spent an hour in a small discussion group (about 10 people), that included Jeff Bezos.
I spent an hour in a small group talking to Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead.

Cancer man from the X-Files was a client of mine before and during the shooting of the X-Files. Great guy and... a non-smoker.

He was a regular client with our computer store for about 3 years. :)
Spoiler concerning the X-Files.
Too bad he was shot dead in the recent finale.

The series had past its prime by then.

There's no question of that, although I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this final season. I had gotten kind of turned off toward the end of the original run, just because there was so much going on, on so many levels, that you really had to work HARD to watch it, just to follow it. So I got to where I still wanted to see what happened, but I almost dreaded having to actually sit down and trudge through an episode. The movies they made that were supposed to tie things together were almost completely unwatchable; I still don't really understand what happened in them.

But it seemed like this last season--even more than the previous limited season a couple of years ago--kind of returned to the roots of having a lot of "fun" stuff going on, with just a thread of a storyline running in the background to tie the arc of the season together. There was a lot of that classic "Night Stalker" quality to this season, and I liked that.

Three at least fairly well known men that I have had private conversations with are Cesar Chavaz, former head of the United Farm Workers, Frankie Valli of the Four Seasons, and Bob Woodward of Watergate fame. However, these conversations only happened once each.

I know. The series had past its prime by then. Hopefully they won't try to bring it back again.

I know I'm digressing, but my teenage self felt that the X Files was a lazy show that used being cryptic to create the illusion of depth without actually having any. The story to the "Half-Life" series used the same tactic.

While dining with family at a restaurant in Lake
Tahoe, the waitress asked if I were a movie star.

So everyone here can at least claim to know someone
who was once mistaken for someone famous,.

Evidently she was unaware that Lassie died years ago. Or, maybe that happened to you back in the 50s.
