Why are "some" right-wing conservatives so intellectually dishonest?

A work colleague of mine sent me a text this morning showing me a picture of a shirt that he bought which read:

"Obama played the race card, Hillary played the woman card, America played the Trump card."

Cute right?

Of all the stupid Alex Jones conspiracy theories he always like to discuss at work, I was really annoyed with what the shirt said and how dishonest it was. Considering Obama being the first African-American president ever in history and considering he was the most threatened of any president, I thought it was a intellectually dishonest statement any conservative could make in regards to Obama. Racism, race relations, as well as issues of systemic racism were all concrete components of America prior to Obama. When I mentioned about the various hanging effigy's that were created and popped up in conservative circles my colleague acted like he was unaware of these things. After posting several links of articles discussing them, he deflected talking about Obama's policies. "But, but, but, muh guns, and Obama bringing them illegals in!" I guess forget the fact that Obama's administration has deported more illegal immigrants than previous presidents, and forget the fact that Obama was subject to the Birther movement which Trump endorse and later retracted publically.

I also really love how my colleague talks about the current trend of discriminated "Christian white males" and how this demographic is under attack. I guess he is one of the many whiners among the MGTOW group.

Are his terms of being persecuted based on that he can't persecute others without any consequence? I had a similar discussion with a former friend saying he feels persecuted as a Christian man since it is no longer socially acceptable to bash/persecute gay people. Cray cray right?

So you generalized that “right wing conservatives”, as a group, are dishonest based on the purported actions of one individual. That’s a form of discrimination.

I don’t agree with your opinion (it is only an opinion, not a fact) that Obama was the most threatened President ever. I would say it was probably Abraham Lincoln. He was despised during his time and relentlessly threatened even before he took office. Lincoln was burned in effigy too, and probably more often than Obama. Lincoln received death threats continuously. There were many times mobs threatened him. It was so bad that Lincoln literally had to enter Washington D.C. in disguise and on an unscheduled train to avoid rioting mobs that threatened to kill him before he could be sworn in. That never happened to Obama. Lincoln was even threatened with insurrection and credible coup d’etat threats from his own military officers. Of course ultimately Lincoln was assassinated, validating the credibility of the threats against him. Yeah, Obama was not the most threatened President ever.

Rural areas are culturally homogeneous, isolated, and insular. Schools tend to be smaller and poorly funded, with teachers who don't want to be there phoning it in and listlessly ushering the lil' bumpkin brats through. Religious fundamentalism is rampant, and thus so is anti-intellectualism, scientific illiteracy, homophobia and misogyny, etc.
Wow! Way to slam entire regions of the country with sweeping false generalizations and stereotypes.

You know what, I would be more than happy to apply that hat to anyone who still actively supports Trumps actions.
I believe what you are saying is that you are willing to call all people that still support President Trump dishonest because of the actions of President Trump. I say believe because the way you phrased it muddled and quite unclear.

Well then you should have said that it was only that. The world is not bound by your experiences. Your generalizations are unwarranted.

@Father Heathen I agree with him as well.
Living in a small rural area myself in the state next to his, I've had similar experiences as well. Especially since I work in the service industry where I overhear a lot of conversations as well.

Sadly we've seen under the current regime in power in Washingon, that systemic racism, anti-Muslim, anti-Jewish, anti-immigrant and so forth are still alive.

President Obama represents the future of America which is not the exclusive domain of white males and that bothers many. The era of the dominant white male is passing rapidly and I sing "glory hallelujah" to that passing.

Not only do we have the "birther"-types, but the right gives voice to the worst instincts of the human race - lying, corruption, giving voice to Nazi sympathizers if not outright Nazis and so forth.

To avoid confusion, I'm not writing about the few who have conservative economic policies but are not trumpistas who swallow whole and applaud his every lie and his every hateful statement.

Intellectual dishonesty is just fashionable today among conservatives. There may be things fueling and encouraging it, such as a few billionaires who see advantages in hoodwinking folks into unwittingly supporting such things as privatizing social security or their fossil fuel businesses by helping to spread lies and confusion about climate change, but ultimately, I think it can be seen as fashion. At least in the sense that, it's likely to change some day. When I was growing up, the conservatives probably in some ways had a slight edge over the liberals when it came to intellectual honesty. Maybe those days will return.

Right.

I mean forget that Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and would still get votes which indicates that his voter base is without a moral compass nor an intellect. Forget that Trump is sexist, but what is so frustrating about my colleague is that he is not only a listener of Alex Jones, but a Trump supporter to the fullest. I also liked during our debate via text he threw in the "well I'm half Jew" remark so I guess its him saying he "half-way" understands discrimination maybe?

Sounds like a low level intellect. Just tell him to STFU

That's pretty funny. No, like this dude is really serious about his beliefs. I thought him believing Alex Jones verbatim like its gospel was funny but his antics are really getting annoying. He really believes in the "Deep State" theory and the lizard people theory and the aliens making pacts with the government.

An addendum, stories like this show how far as we need to go to realize the ideal that all are by definition equal
All are only equal vis-à-vis their status as humans and in relation to the divine. Amongst men, there is neither equality nor any right to equality except before the law. You are preaching communism. In fact I would say that you are an ipso facto dyed-in-the-wool communist.

Have you told him that Alex Jones went on record to say that everything he does is an act?

Pathetic.
