A simpler answer is that each species of monkey & ape has its own environmental niche, & is specialized for it.

The maybe not so simple answer is monkeys managed to evolve without going extinct themselves. I know it is sometimes a tough concept so I appreciate the pictures.
One other thing that may be confusing is we aren't monkeys but apes, see tails for confirmation. Just had to throw that in cause people get caught up with that confusion. I'm not a monkeys uncle etc....

The evolutionary process is very very very slow. We are not conscious of this slowness, because we think that the history we have been recording is a long time. Actually six thousands years of recorded human history is something ridiculous compared to the hundreds of thousands of years that it took for humans to appear.

BTW, a fairly recent find in Chad is of a fossil that has so many shared ape-like/human-like characteristics that there's been a debate as to how it should be classified, and this find is 6 million years old. According to the genome testing, the ape-human split likely occurred roughly around that time.

Why are there still monkeys..? ....... Well, the mummy monkeys see the daddy monkeys approaching, so they wiggle various bits, and do monkey smiles etc.
The daddy monkeys see the mummy monkeys and think 'Phheeewwwwooahhh ...yeah....wot...innit?'
And the next thing you know.......... anyway, this causes baby monkeys, which grow up to be mummy or daddy monkeys.

BTW, There are still Monkeys because NONE of them magically changed into Humans, as the False ToE is forcing it's Godless ideas upon our little children. Adam, the FIRST Human was made long BEFORE the common ancestor of Apes.

Indeed, anyone who thought this through would conclude that Satan created humans in order to ridicule God's creation of apes and monkeys.
From what I have seen, it is uncommon to find someone who has not asked that question around here. The kinds of crowds one gets to meet can significantly vary depending on location, so you are fortunate that the crowds you hang out with are educated past asking that evolution-refuting question.
