Why are women more likely to become theists than men are?

Liebe ist für alle da
dude....

the ancient greeks stated women were more emotional than men
and incapable of rational thought....

hence the naked greeks rubbing themselves imagery....
So the Ancient Greeks said that. But the poster here didn't, which what MSizer was calling you out on. You're pointing words into peoples mouths.

I look forward to reading comments from readers.

In general terms, it is due to the fact that women live closer to reality then men do, predominantly due to childbirth and having a living connection, to life in general.

Men per se (ego) are more into being God, than looking for God.

As a friend of mine once quipped, "Church is the original facebook".

From what I've observed with my wife and her friends, church is very much a means to provide social interaction and bonding, and the underlying religious constructs are secondary.

EDIT: It's the same concept that explains why so often, "book clubs" aren't really about reading books.

That seems very likely. The communal aspect of religion, and its appeal to women, should not be overlooked.

Presuming that you're right....

In my experience women are rarely wrong :D
In my experience you can rarely TELL a woman that she is wrong... :D

A guess is the best I can offer in answer to the OP.

Again in my experience, women are more willing to accept the existence of something greater than themselves, be it societal, theological or scientific.

AFAIK, the synaptic activity in the various sectors your average female brain is much less segregated than your average male brain. It wouldn't be outrageous to suggest that (in general) female reasoning is influenced by intuition, or that our ethics spill over into the interpretation of our subjective empirical experience. Deity archetypes are powerful subconscious psychological motivators. If they're in there to begin with, women are more likely to be aware of them and incorporate them into our daily lives than men are because of the way our brains are wired, whereas men would be better at using their disconnected reasoning skills to arrive at and publicly stick to a conscious conclusion regardless of whether or not deity archetypes are motivating them on a subconscious level.

Also, women excel at linguistic and aesthetic brain functions in comparison to men. As they say, in the beginning there was the word and the word was with god, and the word WAS god. No surprise that women are better at using a linguistic / aesthetic concept like "god" in their daily lives.

Just my opinion.
