Why Aren't You A Republican?

Because I disagree with many policies that the party (especially the leadership) support.

There's another problem, however: Where I live, I pretty much have to support any Dem candidates because they are the only alternative to Incumbents for Life offered by the Reps.

Yes, this is the same answer as the Why are you not a Democrat thread.

Is it because bears aren't allowed to join a political party?

From what i understand of American politics, Republicans are anti-egalitarian and in my belief hold back America as a democratic society. Though i would say this is more of the corporations doing in regards to America being a full fledged oligarchy what with the electoral college and what not, Republicans in my view don't seem to care about the people nearly as much as they do the rich.

Reagan strikes me as the biggest example of Republican pro-corporation and pro-extreme capitalism. While i do not presume to say that Democrats do not do this as politicians need money and favours from influential people, Hillary Clinton was pro-corporation, it seems to me there are more Democrats who care about Americans than Republicans.

Also, conservatives being right wing (often extreme when compared to other countries) doesn't help them looking like loons when they try to enact laws that do not benefit the population, such as the cutting of medical aid. Obviously the people behind don't care about the health of their citizens.

Also, their denial of global warming and anti-education mindset is disconcerting to say the least.

Not all Republicans are this way, but tend to be this way.

Libertarians & Democrats have their threads.
It's the Republicans' turn now.

I'm neither, but I just have no identity with political parties. To me, it's the issues and the times -- been around enough to know the parties will equally sell you out either way so you might as well vote with what you think you need them to do and ignore the identification. :D

If they fail to do as promised -- send 'em packing.

Simply put: I do not want to vote for a party that seeks to de-value peer reviewed, scientific research.
You were never much fun at office parties. Jus' sayin'...

Like, c'mon, if you can't bash science what can you bash?

I can't help but to feel that you do not think too kindly of one of our presidents. Can't put my finger on which one, though.

From the news I get the distinct impression that, were I American, I would not even bother to intentionally check what the Republican candidates and spokespeople propose.

Maybe it was different back in the days of Gerald Ford or earlier than that. But the Republicans that I learned of since Reagan are simply not sane enough nor wise enough to deserve any support.
