No! No!
A published author says I'm mythical.

I now beam with pride.

I could only read part of the article as that site crashed my browser.

I see a lot of myth happening on all sides of the issue. There's the myth that religious people are "saved" and others are not. There's the myth that atheists are logical while others are not. There's the myth that anybody has the slightest clue what does or doesn't form the foundation of all reality. There's the myth that debating the existence of god for even more centuries will somehow accomplish something. There's the myth than the qualifications of holy books has been proven, and the myth that the qualifications of human reason have been proven, in regards to such huge questions. The whole debate, on all sides, especially on the net, is mostly an entertaining myth machine driven primarily by a social competition for fantasy superiority over somebody else. And now I'm playing the game too, by implying I'm somehow above the game.

I think human beings are kind of like an M&M candy. There's a thin hard shell of reason on the outside, obscuring a much larger soft and squishy center of emotion. Generally speaking, I believe theists are more realistic about this than atheists, who ironically are the idealistic dreamers when it comes to the human condition. The main thing we humans can say in our favor is that the big pile of self contradictions we're all sitting on tends to make us interesting. :)

Hi.Yes the sarcasm has been detected. Anyway, hello to you too.I respect your position, and thank you for sharing that with me.

Ps.By the way.I did not write the story, nor did I choose the title.I just posted it because I wanted to share it.
I understand that you simply wanted to share. It's your motive and what you're looking for from having shared I wonder about.

It's of no consequence to me what you think about atheists, your thoughts alone have no impact on my life. I can be friendly with religious people, and indeed I have many religious friends.

And that’s how we get all our morality — not through logic, but because the idea feels right deep inside us.
Except that what "feels right" deep inside of one person is often contradictory to what "feels right" deep inside of another person. Take a look at gay marriage and abortion. There are people with passionately-held, opposing views on those issues. So how you "feel" cannot be used to define an objective morality.
Because whatever our strongly held beliefs are, that is our religion.
Even if one defines religion in this way, it still does not imply that all religion has to be centered around the idea of a diety. Also, I strongly hold the belief that the Earth is round. Is that a part of my religion then?

There is no motive. It's news.If you look at all of my news post, there is a variety. One of them was of a lamb born with a human face.So if you wonder about that,I was merely sharing something interesting and weird.Just sharing.I have another story of an image of Jesus popping up on a of a hill side, which I find to be very silly.People were flocking to it like it was really Jesus.I wanted to share that too.So if you think it is an attack, you are surely mistaken. It was just another story that I wanted to share.Nothing more. Also,it is easy to determine that I do not agree with atheism given my very obvious profile name, but I do not hate anyone.I speak to homosexuals, atheist, political power heads etc.. I have no problems with anyone.Adramelek speaks to me from time to time, and he is a Setian. So you see,I speak to and respect all,if I am shown respect in return. It's a two way street.I am not one of those Westboro types that says "your gonna burn in hell" and protest funerals.I'm chill.

Ps.You said, "It's of no consequence to me what you think about atheists, your thoughts alone have no impact on my life. Come on Marisa, you are acting as if I personally sent this story to you or something. You came here.Do not take these stories so personal.Especially towards me when I did nothing to you to begin with.I did not write the story.Peace:peace:

Oh I didn't say it was an attack, just that I wondered what your motive was. As a touche, I could say it's interesting that you went into a defensive posture at my mere wondering. :)

Also,it is easy to determine that I do not agree with atheism given my very obvious profile name, but I do not hate anyone.
I didn't suggest you do.

That's cool. I hope you can respect me as well.

No, you're reading something into my comment that isn't there. I don't know you. As far as I know, you aren't an elected representative currently engaged in crafting legislation which will have an adverse impact on my life. In light of this, how can your thoughts possibly have any impact upon me? They are yours alone. Even if you share them with me, they can only have the impact I choose to give them. I don't often mince words and I am generally comfortable saying what I mean, so you won't often find me hiding messages in my comments. :)

The author confuses many things and shrinkwraps them into one package.

Not all atheists are rationalists and not all atheists are evolutionists.
A few atheists are, actually, creationists; but hold the belief that we were "creations" of extraterrestrials or extradimensional beings; yet they are still atheists; yet as they hold a belief to be true that can not be verified, they are certainly not rationalists.

Having a philosophy or a moral code does not make one "not" an atheist.

Atheism is simply this: The lack of belief in the supernatural.

Atheists are not a myth and atheism is not a religion and I can prove both with this one statement of fact:

Above all, what separates atheism from religion is this: The belief in the afterlife. Every religion purports a state of being which we will ascend (or descend) after death and purports the idea that we have an immortal soul or spirit. Only the atheist will say, "There is no soul, there is no spirit, there is no heaven or hell; there is no reincarnation, there is no Nirvana. There is no life after death and there is no god.

Looking into the night-time sky, one must wonder where it stops,
or does it ever stop. All of that is somewhat 'supernatural' to my eyes !
I don't believe in any gods, or angels, or heaven or such, but......
the Cosmos to me is supernatural, beyond our nature, beyond reality.
I hope to end up there, some time, into another reality.

Gotta love these religious types.. on the one hand you've got someone saying that anyone who does something evil is by definition an atheist, and on the other there's someone claiming atheists are a myth

Must be a mythconception :)

I think you should be more careful.
I was already so full of smug superiority that reading Mr Fleming's article caused me to burst a blood vessel in my eye.
