if flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of god?
I Corinthians 15:50

why wouldn't jesus appear as a ghost?
Luke 24:36-46

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

i don't understand the purpose of a missing body...
if the disciples saw a ghost then it would be consistent with paul's teachings

any thoughts?

The only thing consistent is the contradictions that are inherent within all these religious fantasies.

but why a resurrected body and not soul?

the idea of living in heaven in spirit after one dies would be explained by having jesus ghost appear to the disciples and it would make a powerful argument for an afterlife.

That's what God chose to do.

Did Paul say that?

What else did he say about the resurrected body?

1 cor 15:42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body...

well, where did he get that idea if jesus physical form resurrected?

Just a second. Where did Paul say that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God?

1 Corinthians 50 I [Paul] declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God

Luke: They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He [Jesus] said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

How do apologists deal with the glaring resurrection contradictions that these very different writings present?

It's quite simple actually. Resurrected-immortalized spirit beings will have the perogative to appear both as a "spirit" or in the flesh. But without the restraints, demands, and physiological systems of our current physical body.

Our current physical bodies cannot inherit the kingdom.

1Cor 15:50 Paul's final argument stating that God's people must have "newly organized imperishable bodies to live with him. In this case Paul is referring to "flesh and blood" as perishable, corrupt, weak, and sinful human bodies.

The scripture in Luke is entirely different, Jesus is making reference that He was not a ghost, He was not dead, but that He had risen and was alive. "Touch Him and see he was viable and not a ghost.....;)

according to paul flesh and blood is perishable...
so i still don't get the meaning behind the missing body

says who?

When the glorified Christ returns to the earth, God’s Spirit-begotten children shall be like Him. At the resurrection, our present physical bodies will be transformed—made like His glorified body. In the same likeness He presented Himself to His disciples.

Isa 26:19 But those who die in the LORD will live; their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy! For Your life-giving light will fall like dew on Your people in the place of the dead! (NLT)

Psa 17:15* As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

1 John 3:1–2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Php 3:21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

1Co 15:46,49 What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. 49 Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly Man.

Romans 8:18-19, 23 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God

23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
