Neither I, nor anyone invented the Lord.

TVOR,

I really find it idiotic for people to post whatever they like irresepctive of the thread's subject. We are talking about the reasons why we invented the GOD. NOBODY IS ASKING IF WE REALLY INVENTED GOD OR NOT. If you beg to differ, what is the need of posting ? Believe whatever you want to believe, but it makes no sense here to put your rambling here.

Ok, but if no one invented the Lord, then asking why we invented Him is a strange question :p

As to why someone would invent a god:

Ignorance, example: Lightning must come from a super being in the sky

Fear and a need to believe one is protected.

Wanting a way to assure something, praying for good harvests to the harvest gods, praying for victory to the war gods, ect.

Emu,

As for your quote (above), you are exactly right. So, we agree on two things. Why someone would invent a God, and that one of us is misguided. :)

Thanks,
TVOR

most people would say that I don't even have a functioning brain because I believe

We cannot convice of what God ultamitly is. We only know what he has told us. and he told us thru his love letter. we chrstians call the bible.
Chuck, it seems like you think Christianity is just some club. You try to give your answers based on what you think Christians would want you to say. It seems like you have no identity, no personality, you are the messaging service for "Christians". You have every characteristic that makes people like me avoid Christianity.

thats a good way to put it just some club. This club gives you eternal life. and all it takes to be a member is to believe in the Lord Jesus :) its not like any other club because Jesus will set you free

Nope I give my answers based on what God wants me to say.

I have an idenity and a personality however I give them up. I will decrease so God can increase. just for clairty I am no christian. the term christian implies catholic, protestant, JW and so forth. I follow Jesus of Nazareth and nobody else

I didn't ask I told everybody we didn't invent God, God invented us.

I believe because it is the truth if you believe something other then the truth then you ar e misguided. Pray that God can show you the thruth.

Man invented God in a futile attempt to explain things which cannot be explained (e.g., How was the universe created?). Unfortunately, the concept of God offers no logical explanation for anything; it merely substitutes "God did it" for "I have no clue who/what did it."

I think there is proof. Creationism, Un moved mover and others

ceationism is a a story, not proof. My faith has its own creation story quite different from yours, which I'm shure you would choose not to believe.

again, I say that religon is as much about culture as it is about god. Each religion is rooted in the culture of a particular area and a particular past.

I understand what you are saying, but what makes you sure that Muhammed didn't invent the idea if "Allah", just to decive the world?

Just to throw my 2 cents in . :) A friend asked me awhile back if God created us , or if we created God . My reply was that God created us , and we have been recreating God ever sinse .

Kinda goes along with what is being said about different cultures . And who has the sig " The Truth is too big for any one religion " ? Or is that another forum ? But in other words , we are limited by what we truely understand , so we base our concepts of God within those limits . Who really understands what a million of anything is ? Ok , it is a lot . :) For most of us , it is a very abstract number . We talk about it , we can deal with it , but most have no practical experience with it , in the way we do smaller numbers .

What about the possibility we invented god out of boredom? For the entertainment value?

Sunstone is correct. Also, the point that God may apper, "Cool" or "Popular" is at stake. It's like a male pop singer to a teenage girl. One lmay like it, so the others follow, just to be "in the crowd".

Well , I was assuming that there is a God , as the question asked " why did we create God ". :) And yes , I personally do believe in a Creator .

Actually Sunstone , I think that the concept of God would have more likely came from a desire to explain the world we live in , then out of boredom . No every one had the time to be bored . :) And the concept has been around for a very long time .

This is a good point and we can't prove anything to be 100% true, but we do have reasons to believe that Muhammad didn't make it all up. First, we know Muhammad to be very honest and nobody ever knew him to tell a lie, even one of his enemies was asked what he thought about Muhammad and he replied that he was the most honest man he knew. Second, what would be Muhammad's motivation, and we can't come up with any reasonable motive that he would of had to decive people like that.
