Why Did You Change Religions?

I was born into a Christian community with no other religious options. I'm grateful for the Christian pabulum as it sustained me and gave me general faith and understanding of a Greatness, a beginning and purpose beyond human understanding. However, from very young I had questions and ideas that didn't fit in with the stories. And I found the Christian tenants oftentimes conflicting. I explored Christianity as far as I could to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Once I settled on Christian Scripture being made up of ALL sorts of parables (mythology), I could accept the stories from other voices, places, and times. As I explored these outside options I discovered flavors that brought that early pablum true spiritual nutrition. I began to discover connections to bring those stories into the Light.

Now I consider myself Omniest, delving into all theological schools of thought, especially far eastern, and finding the most comfortable place for me to be After the Manner of Friends. I would be an Attender if I wasn't narcoleptic. I would never wish to chance disturbing others as I used to do on airplanes. LOL If I get still and quiet, I'll soon be snoring.

So I didn't renounce my early religion, I built upon it. I just chose not to rely on a faulty foundation without structural supports.
