Pbbbbttttbbttt! Xians I know (even the Fundies) value science far more than we God Haters value the Bible.
Some atheists like the Bible as history & literature.
Some Xians have arguments with some scientific consensus (eg, evolution, cosmology), but they find science really really useful, eg, medicine, GPS, computers.
Yer one of those provocateurs, ain't you?

Because the bible plays a huge role in history and in society today. Without the bible we wouldn't have the crusades.

.... it would if I were joking ...

If there really is a god Then even the Atheists are doing his work, shouldn't they know what they are doing.

People tend to forget God is God of all even the Atheists and at any time one may change sides. Its nice if the actually know what there changing to.

I think the point is that some atheists expect the same from the Bible as extreme fundamentalists.... total infallibility or total falsehood. Black or white with no shades of nuance.
Essentially they want more from the Bible than the vast majority of Christians do, certainly more than the vast majority of theologians.

I disagree.

Science -rightly- is our tool for understanding our environment.

This is my take,

If God exists and guarantees you an eternal happy life with him when you die in his good graces or just die according to his will then if given a choice to die tomorrow in his grace or invent a drug that you could live 100 years but chance falling out of grace you should die tomorrow.

The God I understand gives you choices, its your decision to take them. If you want to live to be 100 there are certain risks associated with that. You don't have to sacrifice your life for the lord but if you do and he exist's you will be rewarded.

As to the enviroment its my understanding that it will not be the same after we die.

It really depends on your beliefs, and I will not disagree with your beliefs but you need to allow others to have their own beliefs.

I as an agnostic atheist have issued several complaints on the RF against science and believe science to be highly overrated.

I value the Bible as a window into an ancient culture.

It gives extensive fantastic insight into the concerns and lives of a group of people living in a time that we have little in depth information about.

It`s also a literary gold mine.

I`d also argue that Christians value science more than your OP lets on.
Even if they don`t admit it outright they still seem to be taking those anti-biotics when needed.

I come across this same problem often.

The Einstein quote goes “You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew.”

But then again.... I guess there is the adage that says "To catch a fox you have to think like a fox."

And based on the fundy/literal-to-win approach I think one definitely becomes that very same fox.
