That was what I thought. He asked a question, you provided an answer from NT scripture and he passed from reading it. Hmm

Does the ^ above ^ mean you are Not open to reading something from the Bible ______
It’s a biblical junction because, when the Bible was written, proper handling of meat was unknown. Trichinosis has typically been present in pork. Further, Christians are not subject to the Levitican Law. Additionally, the preponderance of Xtian tradition is rooted in paganism, not Judaism, and those traditions informed early Xy, especially since the Bible was not universally available in its modern form, or readable until most folks could read. So doctrine really comes more from oral tradition (of which scripture was part) than from just the Bible by itself.

I have read the entire Bible. I have nothing against it or anyone on here. Sorry if I didnt jump up and research what you guys wanted me to. Didn't mean to offend.
No, I dont think anyone was offended. I just thought it odd that you would ask the question why Christians eat pork and not read the individuals answer. No biggie. BTW, some Christians do not eat pork.
Sorry I should have clarified I didn't want to because I already have. I can open the Bible and read to find answers.
I am here to hear people own opinions they have gathered from sources... not to be redirected.
I appreciate yours and their response and will act more appreciative.
Thanks! Happy to be here.No problem. It's often difficult to put intent in type. Thanks for clarifying. And BTW, Welcome to RF, glad to have you here.
And that source isn't a medical journal?Correct, it is up to everyone to make our own ideas of what is healthy. The only way we can draw a conclusion is to base off other ideas and research. So, we have to decide which source we are going to get that from. I prefer to get my health tips from what I personally believe is the Source.
But since it's obvious it was a metaphor for getting gentiles to sign up, why act like it was literal? Not that I care, because I agree we shouldn't be using scriptures to call something unclean. We should use medical studies instead. In the New Testament there was a revelation that all animals are clean.
Every food is unclean, then, because they all harm SOMEONE.Unclean to me means having a higher risk of harming someone who ate it.
Jews were so anti-Canaanite (even thought that's where they come from) that they will do anything to be different from what Canaanites do.People who call themselves "Christian" are so anti-Jew that they will do anything to be different from what Jews do.
He can't stone her without agreeing to the same act. Since he doesn't want to be stoned, he lets her off the hook.I recall an object lesson in Genesis about it, where Judah is about to stone Tamar and then finds out he has been in the wrong.
I did. The older I get the less the grease agrees with me, so I switched to turkey.Because it's frickin delicious!!! Ever tried bacon?

I am curious as to why Christians eat pork? It has been named unclean in numerous verses.
There are a lot of things Christians don't do because the bible says not to so why is this an exception?
If you are a Christian and dont eat pork I dont mean to offend or speak for an entire religion but where I live I pass BBQ pork places that have a cross in their logo so its not even thought about it. Off topic but didnt the Buddha die from some pork?
Regardless, wouldn't it just be better if we didn't eat it? I know how delicious bacon is but is it worth it?

And my theory is that there is no God, and therefore it is impossible that God ever said not to eat pork. My own belief is that this was written by ordinary, human people. And I know ordinary human people who don't think I should eat a lot of things, because they don't like them (like brussels sprouts or parsnips), but I eat them anyway. First, because their likes, dislike and prejudices have nothing to do with me, and second because I think they taste good and are very nutritious. My theory is if God has said or ever said to not eat pork why do it.

Pork falls into that same category, along with shellfish, and a lot of other foods and combinations abhorred by some religion or other.
I might point out, by the way, that much of Islam holds that dogs are ritually unclean, too, while Asians tend to gobble them up as delicacies. To each their own, I guess.

Christians also eat shellfish and other non kosher foods. There are several possible reasons for this. The most common reason is the accounts given in the book Acts in which the apostle Peter has a vision where he is told that certain creatures are clean. This raises questions, however. In the first place if we are going by the written Torah, anyone who teaches Jews not to follow the law regardless of miracles they give as signs they are false. The account in Acts therefore cannot possibly explain in my opinion why. There is actually a different reason, and the reason is the Christians are not Jews. We do not get circumcised to begin with and are therefore not required to be kosher. Instead we are a new creation, and this is I think one of the better explanations.
To answer your question, alot of Christians are taught in their churches about the book of Acts 10, that Peter was given a vision that eating unclean animals are ok.
But this is a false teaching of man's, had these Christians read
Acts Chapters 10 and 11,
In these two Chapters Peter being a Jew himself was given by God in a vision not to call Gentiles unclean, For God has called the Gentiles to himself also.
But as it is, alot of Christians don't even know what their bible supports or Confirm's.
All because they would rather go to a church and set there and be spoon fed by a man that is just as much a sinner as they are. As it is written, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

The eating of certain foods already ended with the end of the Constitution of the Mosaic Law.I agree. A lot of laziness in every religion and even outside of.
I agree. It is just that moderation part that I have difficulty with. Bacon. Barbeque. Hmmmm!Properly cooked fresh pork consumed in moderation poses no health risk and is indeed very nourishing.
I have never given it much thought. I eat what my parents and the members of my community ate. Pork was a part of that. I have always been curious about what is meant by "unclean". There are a number of disease and parasitic organisms carried by pigs that can be passed to humans and have speculated that this may be part of the basis for referring to them as unclean. A friend once pointed out that human flesh allegedly tastes similar to pork and he speculated that this may be part of the reason some cultures and religions prohibit it as unclean. I do not really know. I enjoy eating it and as mentioned and like anything, if indulged in moderation, it should be a nutritious and tasty part of a diet. I do not fault people or judge their choices for not eating it. I accept their choices just as I accept the choice of those that indulge.I am curious as to why Christians eat pork? That is one possible way to look at the story, but it doesn't feel complete. Also something you have said earlier in the thread does not sit well with archeology, that Israelites wanted to reject the Canaanites around them. More likely they are Caananites rejecting Egyptian political culture. There is a form of warfare introduced which the Christians later describe as war in the heavens, and this is very likely the warfare which takes place in Canaan. A literal reading of the texts would have you believe that there is a bloody takeover of Canaan, but that doesn't seem to fit the archeology or history that is accessible to us.He can't stone her without agreeing to the same act. Since he doesn't want to be stoned, he lets her off the hook.
It's like when Utah or something tried to ban cohabitation to punish Mormons who still do polygamy but they realized THEY couldn't have people on the side either, so OH LOOK, IT'S OKAY AGAIN.
