Why won't humans use other things to trade besides money ?Because money can be traded for goods and services. Being able to afford goods and services is super useful.
Why can't one achieve all of that without money ?Money is life. Money is power, status, security, safety and comfort. It can free one from want and worry.
Because a currency guarantees a coincidence of wants between trading parties. Why won't humans use other things to trade besides money ?
Think about it. People won't accept a sack of potatoes for a hammer unless they actually want potatoes. Why won't humans use other things to trade besides money ?
One can, but in today's complex, multicultural, specialized society, an agreed upon unit of power is useful. Why can't one achieve all of that without money ?
A primitive lifestyle wouldn't fly in any city not just Edmonton but the problem with city people in general is that they think that they are better than everyone who lives outside of a city just because they are "Modern" and "Progressive".One can, but in today's complex, multicultural, specialized society, an agreed upon unit of power is useful.
One can, of course, ditch society and go live in a jungle village or commune somewhere. Such coö perative, socialist societies see to their members' security and prosperity and might not depend on a formal unit of value, but options there would be few and a primitive lifestyle generally wouldn't fly in Edmonton.
I think you'll find that societies and religions everywhere find their own, peculiar values to be particularly meritorious.A primitive lifestyle wouldn't fly in any city not just Edmonton but the problem with city people in general is that they think that they are better than everyone who lives outside of a city just because they are "Modern" and "Progressive".

We can; it's called bartering. Why won't humans use other things to trade besides money ?
It can be achieved without money, but money is far more efficient for achieving this. Why can't one achieve all of that without money ?
It isn't an issue of money specifically but resources and assets more generally. Most extremely wealthy people don't hold a large proportion of their assets in cash but in investments and property. The perceived value of those assets can be measured in terms of money but that's really just an man-made scale than a real thing. And why is life so much more harder without money or with little money ? Because to live is Hard. Humans have built societies and technologies to ease the struggle for life. Take these away and life is hard again. Money is just one of the tools we created to ease life and it works well. Take it away and life is hard again. And why is life so much more harder without money or with little money ? Why is life hard in the first place ?Because to live is Hard. Humans have built societies and technologies to ease the struggle for life. Take these away and life is hard again. Money is just one of the tools we created to ease life and it works well. Take it away and life is hard again.
Life is the ability to do things separate from other things. This is difficult. It requires the ability to maintain an energy source, energy conversion. It requires the ability to move, so one can collect the energy source of use the energy source. It requires the ability to make decisions. It requires a want to live. This makes life an enemy to all things including other life especially when resources are minimal. This is why life is Hard. Life is only a temporary condition. Eventually all things will no longer be alive. Why is life hard in the first place ?
I suppose that is possible but for the most part that is a Fantasy utopia.Eventually the dependency on money could disappear, but not before the dependency on human labor is eliminated by replacing it with automation, robotics, and other advancements in technology; we're not there, yet, but if cooler heads prevail and we don't set off world-wide thermonuclear annihilation, and stick to advancing truth and science rather than religion and political agendas, I'm confident we can get there.
If we get there, crime will taper off, wars will be a thing of the past, homelessness, poverty, lack of necessary resource, etc. will be things of the past.
