its not like you guys can actually find out more about your "belief" and i dont think that atheism and agnosticism is even catagorised as a religion.
Atheism, Advaita (non-duality, existence of only one and no God, there cannot be two things, God and humans, animals, vegetation, non-living things), is a recognized position in Hinduism, going back to the days of Vedas.

In answer to the OP:

Because I don't believe in God, but I do believe in the importance of people's beliefs.

Probably something to do with the same mentality when people gather around an automobile accident even though they were not involved.---j/k

I come here for all the same reasons I went to church; all the hot chicks and free coffee.

/me "Oh, wait... what's this in my hand? Is it a cup of coffee? And it's free? Perhaps I should offer it to someone."

I find religion interesting and I like to discuss it. Why would a Christian come to a forum with Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Luciferians, etc, etc, etc? Why not just go to an all Christian forum?
I'll tell you why I don't go to an all-Christian forum. It's because as soon as I say I'm LDS, I'm either insulted or banned. RF is a safe haven for pretty much everybody.

This is religiousforums.com, not christianity.com or even abrahamicfaiths.com.

So I see no reason to question why people who don't believe in God would be here. There ARE religions that do not believe in God, or were you not aware of that?

As for asking people who are anti-religious why they're here, that's a fair question. Tho I'm sure many of them have thoughtful, well-reasoned answers.

We came to check out this God fellow but so far he's a bit mysterious and all his followers do is argue amongst themselves :p

sorry i should have pressed the search button aye. my bad. please forgive me. :)
Don't worry, melanieeeee. The question has been asked a gazillion times, but so have a lot of other questions. Theists often wonder what an atheist could possibly find to enjoy about a religion forum. Quite frankly, some atheists are what I would call "fanatics." They are every bit as obnoxious as extremists of every religion known to man. They are here for one reason -- to ridicule believers and to imply that a person has to be dumber than dirt to believe in God. And let me tell you, they start threads all the time to argue with theists that God doesn't exist because He can't be proven to exist. We theists get as sick and tired of those threads as atheists do of threads that ask what they're doing on a religion forum.

Most of the atheists here aren't that way. They are here because they have an interest in learning about the world's religions and about how thiests perceive the world. They respectfully disagree with our belief in God, but often end up encouraging us to question His existance ourselves. To me, that's a good thing. Questioning one's beliefs is one of the best ways I know of to strengthen them. A lot of atheists I've met here are more respectful of my beliefs than my fellow Christians are. A lot of them, like a lot of the theists here, just enjoy the conversation. If you look around the site, you'll see that there are a lot of topics that have nothing to do with religion. Personally, I'm glad most of them are here. They make this place a lot more interesting than it would be if we all thought alike.

lol! :D

You can only talk to him by appointment only. And the wait is currently 276 years, 9 months 3 days, and 5 hours. Would you like a cup of coffee while you sit in the lobby?

You're gonna need a lot of bathroom breaks. :D

And btw, no cameras. God is a very private being. :p

I am glad that there are atheists here- it gives someone to debate and to learn from. Anyone hateful is immediately banned so it is usually a rather pleasant place to hang out. I'd say I like 95% or more of the people here.

My Gosh,

It was so much easier to meet satan.

During the waiting line there, he even had dreary music no one has ever heard of playing.
