Why do so many need a god ?.

:) Thank you. I think back when I "experienced" god (for want of a better word than using your word ;)), I defined god as, well, life. When I was baptized, it was like I had an old self, and after confession, I went through baptism and came to a new self. Then I started reading more about the "bread of life" and connecting it to the Eucharist. Then took communion, and thought. God is life.

Granted, it's not the definition I have today; but, I never really got God is Love. Maybe life loves you but I thought it was more you love life. Maybe seeing life as a being and it having feelings or making it a person makes it personal, I dont know.

Can't figure the connection. Tryin.

Thank you though.

Maybe we aren't meant to be concrete in knowing all of why we feel what we do...and what or who a god may be. I can have an idea of what He means to me, but it might be a different meaning to someone else. Just like love often can be hard to describe when you're in it, with another human being. God's love is that much harder to describe, at least for me, because it's out of the ordinary.

lol,,, You were taught the truth. If you weren't,,your post would have reflected the reasoning of why the teaching is wrong. Instead, you can only insinuate that you were brain-washed into some kind of wrong thinking. And if you can't see that God's credentials are in His 4th Commandment,,,,that's not my fault.
Funny to see an SDA talking about what is true.

This a bit off track but stay with me.

In my opinion, a creator god would make more sense as a woman.
If it were to take human form, that is.

The more often I hear religious folk, specifically of the Abrahamic genre, saying "He" or "Him", in reference to their god,
the more I feel certain in saying their religious texts are written by men for men, a god only being the control mechanism.

Side - side topic:This is why I've taken a liking to referring to the Abrahamic god as "it".
It's gender neutral and even a little bit insulting. Perfect.

But where does your message come from, someone else ?.

From me for me. Its the actual understanding of God. God is anything you would like to. Since God stays fictional to the perception of the rest of you, God can even be an ear for my heart. Its when i need God to be a person. And this i only need when i have to talk about things straight from my heart which still f**king hurt inside. Not i dont talk loud. I think it. I sometimes ask loud but not more than a whisper. Things i told many times to friends who i know they'll be like: "oh no, not that again. could you... just . not?!"

I believe God is what God has to give.

Funny to see an SDA talking about what is true.

It's funny to see a self-proclaimed Atheist in a Religious Forum. Are you not sure?

If you were really an Atheist,, you would be out living your life,, but here you are,, in a religious forum discussing God?

lol You are not an Atheist,, you are looking for attention,, So, what do you do? You ring my bell. lol

If you were really an Atheist you would forget these Religious Chats,,, and get on with your life. lol

No, it isn't.

Take a look at the Mission Statement, back at http://www.religiousforums.com/threads/rf-rules.170244/

RF MISSION STATEMENT

As a community of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, our aim is to provide a civil environment, informative, respectful and welcoming where people of diverse beliefs can discuss, compare and debate religion while engaging in fellowship with one another.

Besides, people should stop making odd assumptions about atheists already.

This religious forum is to debate religion, only a bigot wouldn't support an outside perspective, no?

My life is all about education and progressing my worldview.
Much better than sticking to just one so avidly as to think every other one is incorrect, imo.

I'm a hard-atheist apistevist, with a backup of apatheism just in case the magical entity called god happens to really exist.
And I'll say it again, I'm here to progress my viewpoint.

Thanks for taking a wrong guess, though ;).

Please be so kind as to reveal the deity that condones this dishonesty.
I want to be sure to avoid it like the plague

Sir,, you are in Rebellion against God. I know an Atheist. The last place he would be is in a religious chatroom He is probably hungover with some girl he met in a bar. He doesn't talk about God, or the Bible, or Islam, or any other religious stuff. He doesn't care. He is an Atheist.

So,, while many of you people claim to be Atheists,,,, you are really mad at God,, and feel the need to wear a Title so that all can see where you stand. lol Foolishness and nothing more.

Now get out Religious Forums,,, drop the God talk,, and live your life as if there is no afterlife. That means quit discussing it. Then and only then,, will you be an Atheist.

Right now,, you are acting like a spoiled brat,, that is holding his breath in order to punish God,, whom you know Loves you.

So,, grow up,, or get out of here and prove to yourself you are an Atheist!!!!

No, I am not.

I know an Atheist.
I know several.

So what?
Is your claim that every atheist must behave like the one atheist you know?

So,, while many of you people claim to be Atheists,,,, you are really mad at God,, and feel the need to wear a Title so that all can see where you stand. lol Foolishness and nothing more.
That you feel the need to dictate to atheists their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, etc. in order to maintain your lies reveals much.

Now get out Religious Forums,,, drop the God talk,, and live your life as if there is no afterlife. That means quit discussing it. Then and only then,, will you be an Atheist.
Unfortunately for you, you do not have any authority over me.
Nor do you speak for all atheists.
Nice try though.

Right now,, you are acting like a spoiled brat,, that is holding his breath in order to punish God,, whom you know Loves you.

So,, grow up,, or get out of here and prove to yourself you are an Atheist!!!!
You did not reveal the deity that condones your blatant dishonesty.
Why is that?

I know how real atheists behave.

Do you believe in the Easter Bunny? No,, you don't. Nor do you track down Easter Bunny believers and debate them! So,, if you were an Easter Bunny Atheist,, you would have me convinced.

But,, here you are, claiming to be an Atheist, and looking for someone to discuss it with????? lol

Take a hike,, if you want to impress me,,, Leave.

Abrahamic god is actually just an angry man.

To hold power over others.

No.

To feel valid about yourself.

To feel valid about yourself? Many use many means to feel valid about themselves. Some feed the hungry, some go to become great doctors to heal the sick. Some write great books or author fantastic legacies. Some have huge families and some live vicariously through their children. Does my belief in my deity help me feel valid about myself? I am not certain. Maybe or maybe not. Perhaps expand on the question?

To justify what you do.

No.

To act as though superior to others.

No.

I must say that I only listed some of the more sinister options in a situation of what is applicable.
If those things don't apply to you then I say "good".

There are those that feel they couldn't stand to stay alive in this world without a god explanation.
They need the god to prevent their own sense of depression and whatnot.

yes I believe god is what god gives, but also what god takes, I don,t like the word god, so I see all that is as the source, everything is working through and from the source, no persoanl god is needed.

I understand you have difficulty with your belief box taking so many hits.
Thus the reason you need the hitters to leave.
You are not comfortable unless you have the level of control you cannot get.
So who is next that will have to leave in order for you to protect your belief box?
Would it not be simpler to find a forum that is only those whom you agree with instead of this sad attempt at driving others from this one?
Or is it the false sense of power you are addicted to?

I notice you STILL have not revealed the deity who condones your dishonesty.
Is it that you are ashamed of your deity or is it your deity is ashamed of you?
