Why Do You Post Here?

Why are you here? While I'm more interested to hear from our dissidents, I am interested to hear from anyone who participates.

Because I have no life. My cat wont even talk to me. I bought a dog and it bit me and ran away. I GOT NO WHERE ELSE TO GO! !!

But seriously. I like the different discussions. Exchange of views on everything from religion to current events and sadly (sometimes) even politics. And I've made some new and interesting friends. And gained some different perspectives on some subjects that I thought I had figured out.

And had some really fun times

@YmirGF told me he'd set me up with some erotic dancing girls if I was only willing to buy the drinks. I didn't realize he meant buy the drinks for him.

I started out coming here for light entertainment. Nowadays, I sometimes learn something. Plus I get to write. I love to write.

Hehe

That is probably the main reason I stay on RF. I find I don't write much anymore as I tend to exhaust the need here on RF. RF has been tremendous in giving me the opportunity for practicing the art of written communication. I thank you all for that even if it has been a rocky ride at times. :) I'm a better communicator for the experience.

A special thanks to @Sunstone for putting up with me. :)

  • Because it gets me out of doing housework, yard work and litter boxes.
  • Because my husband is always watching TV and I don’t like TV much anymore.
  • Because my husband is nicer to me when I stay on the computer and don’t bother him.
  • Because keeping busy reading and writing helps take my mind off all my problems.
  • Because I like people and I find their ideas and beliefs interesting.
  • Because I don’t like going out of the house to see people.
  • Because I know I can always find someone to talk to if I am lonely.
  • Because I learn something new every day.
  • Because I like to write.
  • Because it helps me become more spiritual since I learn to get along with all kinds of different people with all kinds of different beliefs and non-beliefs, and accept them for who they are.
  • Because I like to share what I believe in case anyone is interested.
Unfortunately, there are too many reasons why I am here, so many that I cannot seem to get anything else done anymore, so taking my mind off my problems is not making them go away... :( You do not even want to see my house or my yard or my anything, since it has all to hell in a bread basket since I started posting on forums 5 ½ years ago. My yard is no longer a yard, it is a jungle.

Because in the other forums I frequent,
I don't want to distract from their topics
by getting into religion & politics.
The other forum I frequent is a religious forum but the only beleivers are Christians and me, the only Baha'i... There is no variety of religious beliefs like on here, so I do not learn much like I do here.

Also, the posters on that forum are not as polite and respectful as they are here... One Christian has taken over that forum and he is downright rude and insulting of my beliefs, calling them lies and even worse... He also insults the atheists and says they are going to hell. I had to come here to realize that most Christians are actually very nice people.

I only stay posting there because I have long time atheist friends that post there and I will not abandon them to that Christian who keeps telling them they are going to hell, not that they are worried....:rolleyes:

It's even worse than here?

Sounds analogous to the behavior of some liberals here.
(To my liberal friends, take notice of "some".)

I wouldn't abandon atheists either, despite some being intolerable.

You have no idea what goes on on that forum. The forum owner flew the coop so there is no moderator... It is anything goes. Peoples' true colors really come out in such circumstances. This place is heaven in comparison. I have not really noticed much disharmony between posters here, an occasional disagreement maybe, but that is par for the course with all these different beliefs and non-beliefs, and all these different personalities.

I do not know too many like that although some do test my patience. I gotta go in a few and check the posts I got from one of those atheists on that other forum... I came here first to bolster myself up for what I expect from him. So far, in over three years, his position has varied only a hair's breath....
