Why does God choose us in particular

I wonder if they ever stop to think about how tedious such a thing would be? "God knows the number of hairs on your head" I was told in Church. "Why," I must ask now, because it did eventually occur to me that level of micromanagement is horribly inefficient and a colossal waist of time. But, I suppose one would get extremely and unimaginably bored living forever.

He is smarter than Rush Limbaugh. He can keep
track of everything with almost all of his brain tied behind
his back,

On this forum I am impressed with how many people
were brought up in religious homes.

There really was just no religion at all in my home,
it was not a topic, unless I asked mom something like,
why are those people doing whatever.

So many of you had to go through untold hours of
programming and deprogramming to get somewhere
close to where I started out.

Yup. Most ex-Christians I suspect just outgrow it and learn better, but the "default Christian" upbringing does have demonstrable detrimental effects on many children, even those who don't leave it. This is especially true of the Conservative/Evangelical types, where guilt and shame are inherent with being human, and to be human is shameful and something we are guilty of. Even if you're not gay, that's not good for the psyche.

I remember well the first time someone was explaining
the fall, the corruption of the earth, all that.

Finally I got it. "You mean, god is perfect goodness, but
everything he made is bad?"

Why out of a billion sperm does he chose one that made you or me, instead of someone else it could have been? When it could have been someone else during the same act of coitus that could have done just as well and accomplished the same things? If all we really have to do here is love and repent our sins to get to heaven? This life is obviously nothing compared to eternity. So why us.

If you fire 100 arrows at a target and that last one hits the center, did the archer choose the arrow that would hit the mark or did the archer just keep firing arrows until one hit the mark?
