Why does God hate if people worship other Gods?

Quran 4:48 states:

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.

Exodus 20:3 states:

You shall have no other gods before me.

Either other Gods exist or they do not.

If other Gods exist, then there is no one God.

If other Gods do not exist, why is Allah/Yahweh warning people about non-existent things like a square circle?

What other gods are being referred to in these verses above?

Are they non-existent like a square circle? A square circle is illogical.

OR

Are they non-existent like ice is before water is frozen? Non existence of ice is not illogical like a square circle.

is there a saving grace in their actions?

then any knee bending to something less would be....

The god you propose is weak/petty in that it becomes jealous, especially a god of creation, which could easily create things to worship itself. The followers you propose are procrastinating in that they seek life beyond the one in front of them, clinging to a world forever in the future.

That's not a weakness.

Emotion is a weakness, particularly jealousy. Jealousy stems from fear and feelings of inadequacy. Does your God fear, or believe itself inadequate, and if so, why? Why would the most powerful thing fear or feel less than perfect?

It may be fair enough to say...there is only one Creator.
If that ability is shared, it would need be shared by those of similar mind and heart.
Otherwise, the next life would be chaotic...altogether.

So, what your God is meaning when he says:

"You shall have no other gods before me."

is actually - "there are other Gods but I am the only one creator God. So, better worship me."

So, there is like a hierarchy of Gods out there. On top of the pyramid is the Creator God. Then there are lesser Gods?

I have posted as such so many times.

We have hierarchy in this world.
Should we not expect the same in the next?

I do not expect a lofty position dealt, as I stand up from this dust I have walked in.
I am not seeking any crown.

It would be sufficient that Someone cares enough to hand me a robe....
and allow me to follow.

A ring on my finger, as a gesture of belonging, would be nice.

a god can be anything we set our devotion to, and anything we put our hope in.

If we carve an image and begin praying to that image, the image becomes a god to us because we are setting our attention on it and placing our hope in it. God does not want us to turn to lifeless gods, he wants us to turn to him because he is our life giver and only he can help us.

There are so many false gods that humans look to and worship. in the days of Isreal they looked to the god Molech and the Baal gods and the egyptian gods Horus and Ra and a host of other man made gods.

christians look to mary and pray to the so called 'saints'... the muslims pray to mecca 5 times a day and they pilgrimage to a box containing a meteorite and pray to it.

But God wants us to turn our attention to him alone because he alone is the only true God and the only one who can actually do anything for us.
