Why has LHR hijacked the word magic?

Do people in this DIR also believe in the supernatural and particularly real magic that defies the laws of physics?

I believe in the supernormal since I have seen it manifest itself time and time again according to individuals particular wills, projections, and most importantly, timelines. Nemo was not the first to coin the idea of the supernormal and people have known that for centuries. I'm no Setian, that was Mikes baby and there were certainly a lot of weird little cults that showed up in the late 60's early 70's (Unarius is one example). Though Mike contributed a lot I see him as one who pulled the same trick as many others, "My hand was guided by some mysterious voice/ force" (*not an actual quote) the same voice/force that wrote the Ten Commandments and wrote many systems of thought. I'd say true Magic or whatever you want to call it is like the thing that catches your eye driving 100mph down the freeway but you don't give a second thought to, then later down the line you realize that there might have been something to it. Magic, in my experience is subtle and is a way to achieve long term goals

Seriously though...

Again, the answer is that my words and the meaning they convey are my responsibility. It makes me feel a little bit warm and fuzzy inside that my word choices make some people mad. It gives me a little bit of power over them.

Magic in particular doesn't need to conform to your little rules. Magic isn't for you, it's for me.

Telling me that I have a straw man argument so you're going to reword it for me just makes me feel...hypocrisy.

The cat went to the park. No, it doesn't mean the cat went to the park. The words are my responsibility and they don't conform to your little rules. Zomg i have so much power over you. Its absurd to completely change the meaning of words just so that you can get a power trip or whatever. I've actually redefined that entire statement to mean that magic inherently requires the supernatural. See how foolish that argument is? Go ahead and redfine every word in the English language to mean something entirely different. That doesn't mean you're being logical or rational or sensible. I'm also going to call them LHP average primates because that's actually much more accurate since they can't do anything that normal humans can't and everything they do is well inside the established boundaries of the laws of physics. When they can start doing stuff outside of the laws of physics, comeback to me and then ill accept the use of the word magic. Until then all you're doing is taking a completely irrelevant word, redefining it, and using it because it makes LHP sound more mystical or sophisticated, or developed, or whatever. I mean clearly the word is used because it has baggage and they want to be associated with it. Why else would you pick the word magic? Obviously because of the connotation it has. And no, magic isn't for you, the arbitrary definition you've connected to magic is for you.

Also LOL its not my words or my rules. Ridiculous. You think i own the English language and every dictionary out there? Well I don't.

I'm also not rewording it for you, i'm rewording it for me to make a more accurate analogy which I then used to demolish your argument. I don't think you're aware of what a strawman is. I'm not saying that's your argument, I repurposed your analogy and made it my words. So there isn't any hypocrisy involved. Either way you still made a strawman earlier

And how is it you know that these things were supernatural? Couldn't they have just been an error in your perception or a coincidence or a false memory? I mean what's more likely? That you made a mistake and that you're a flawed human being like everyone else, or that your experiences actually demonstrate the laws of physics being broken and bypassed? I'll go with the former personally. I don't find anecdotes convincing or else i'd have to believe every Christian, Muslim, conspiracy theorist, and anyone else who has had what they believe to be a valid personal experience. How am I supposed to differentiate you from all the other people who have been so wrong so often?

I kind of like the idea offing accused of hijacking a word. Makes me want to do it again. "Open the strong box, ya varmint!"
