Not to get abstract, but perhaps that 1st garment divided at 4 seam locations, or otherwise 4 separated articles represented the syntactic gospels. That the clothing was divided into quarters, as is the syntactic testimony, may show that the divided clothing of Jesus was an undue fragmentation of something meant as a whole. You also have to remember that supposedly a prophecy was fulfilled with the division of the attire, as in John 19:24. And yet, that also might yet be a metaphor for something else.
