Why is birth control so controversial to SOME religious people?

YeshuaRedeemed

Revelation 3:10
I won't single out a certain religion, and I will put it on the shelf what religion I am, but I am definately pro birth control. Birth control is anything that acts before conception to prevent people from conceiving an unwanted child. I had my tubes removed for this reason. Maybe I am pro birth control, not prolife, because people who want to oppose access to birth control need to realize that it does not cause abortion, and in fact prevents abortion while allowing some level of choice for consenting humans. How can a woman who has not conceived a baby, have an abortion? Come on, prolifers should support birth control at least for this reason. As always, I am willing to try and prove stuff, if you specify what I need to prove. Stay awesome, and practice safe sex. That includes testing for sexually transmitted infections, condom use, birth control use, and always getting consent before you proceed. STI testing is responsible, and for people who love their potential partners, as well as themselves. You are not a bad person for using birth control or getting tested, you are responsible, and healthy.

It usually depends on the type. Condoms seem to be off the table because they prevent the semen from going to its proper place. The pill is generally acceptable, because the semen can go into the womb, which is its proper place after ejaculation.

Fair enough, what about a woman having her tubes removed?

Why, because sex & sexual pleasure has been shamed, heaven forbid that we should enjoy it. These religious fruit cakes that promote this seem to have forgotten that it was God who created sex for pleasure and populating the earth.

I think it's about controlling sexuality. Birth control enables humans to have sex outside of marriage (or in) without the consequence of pregnancy. It's viewed as a man made "work-around" of God's authority as it's being expressed through natural reproductive process: a defiance of God's will in favor of man's will.

I think it would depend on the reason, but I imagine it's an area of dispute since they can (mostly) be untied. It may be seen as an acceptable form of family planning.

What? Me worry?

I don't know where you live.
But here in the USA the public schools are primarily funded by property taxes.
Suppose the government gave a big property tax break to the non-parents who got snipped?
I am a gay guy, who has never been enrolled in the public school system, nor enrolled anybody else. Why shouldn't I be exempted from the taxes that pay for it? Why do I have to subsidize the breeders, who commonly oppose my very marriage?

You know what? I don't advocate for that. I don't want to live in a world full of under-educated people. I want kids in school! I want the future people around me to be as well educated as possible, because I am extremely selfish and I firmly believe that a better educated society will be better for me to live in.

This shows that you don't understand what the religious 'fruit cake' position even is.

The objection to artificial birth control is predicated on the notion that sex serves a teleological purpose. A teleological purpose you've just affirmed. It is not an objection to sex. It is an objection to the deliberate frustration of one of the main purposes of sex. In another way of putting it, contraception turns sex into a glorified form of mutual masturbation.

Where in the Bible do you read "Sex is only intended for procreation"? Or even "Thou shalt not masturbate"? And if the sex drive is implanted in us to make us breed, aren't the celebrate religious defying their God?
