Why is consciousness so baffling?

Greetings to all my fellow earthlings!

I hope you are enjoying your experience here on the forum today.

I found a video at YouTube and then did a search to see if there were ANY more similar videos.

I was quite surprised at how MANY turned up in the search.

I have yet 2 actually watch more than a couple so I intend to go back after posting this thread I am now composing.

I think we have a general unwillingness to accept how basically simple it really is.

Any most-basic interaction is actually simple awareness/consciousness. All other awareness/consciousness is by complex arrangement of those most-basic interactions.

The religious tend to consider consciousness -and so God and their own "soul" or spirit given by God -unfathomably mysterious, inherently unknowable or beyond explanation.
It may seem blasphemous (and so make them fearful) to believe they might understand it.
The non-religious may be lost in the present extreme complexity and artistry of consciousness (which includes literally everything -as a consciousness is conscious not only of self or present self).
They may all even subconsciously not want to lose the awe inspired by mystery (not realizing the awe which may be inspired and realized by understanding and mastery).
We do not know how much we don't know about its present level of complexity or the specific arrangements which allow for its present capabilities.

We certainly don't know the limits of what new arrangements and capabilities can be made of which to be aware/conscious.

Because there is no way yet (if ever) to explain how subjective conscious experiencing can occur from atoms and electrons moving around. How do you get a big picture conscious understanding from something reducible to individual atoms and electrons moving around.

My philosophy holds that Consciousness is something fundamental and mysterious and is not the product of material interactions.
