Unless it's a defense machinism ego is great, normal. It's part of your personality, that gem most people don't
have.

Well, ego is a defense mechanism. It's how a brain capable of processing so much information survives. So I guess that nixes it being great. It is quite normal.

Though it's also normal for it to be a great deal more than a part of your personality. The human ego has the additional capability of building metaphorical constructs of the self and its relation to reality, instead of being limited to responses to existing environments.

It's a powerful tool that almost none of us are trained to use, but most of us here are trying to master in one way or another.
